AI Strategy, Emerging Systems & AI Principal Architect

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

Micron’s IT organization seeks a Principal Architect to lead our AI Strategy and Emerging Systems efforts. In this strategic role, you will research, investigate, track, and evaluate innovative AI capabilities. These include generative LLMs, agentic systems, and multimodal AI. You will rapidly prototype proof-of-concepts and translate innovations into clear business opportunities supported by accurate risk controls. You will partner with AI Enablement, IT, and business teams to ensure our AI roadmap stays on the forefront while upholding Micron’s values and governance standards.

Responsibilities:

• Discover, track, and assess emerging AI capabilities and trends: (GenAI, agentic systems, multimodal, retrieval, model customization, inference optimization, governance tooling, and security patterns), translating developments into relevance for Micron’s business and technology landscape.

• Architect AI Solutions & Platforms: Define and evolve enterprise AI architecture patterns (cloud/hybrid, data pipelines, MLOps) for large-scale generative AI and modeling workloads. Design AI system integrations (LLMs, RAG, agents) with Micron’s Microsoft 365 and cloud platforms.

• Innovate and Prototype: Lead rapid experimentation by building AI proof-of-concepts (e.g. chatbots, predictive analytics, AI assistants). Validate feasibility, performance, and cost; recommend scale-up or pivot decisions based on results.

• Assess Value & Risk: Identify high-impact use cases across functions (manufacturing, supply chain, R&D, etc.) and quantify business value. Simultaneously evaluate data security, IP protection, privacy, fairness, and compliance, ensuring responsible AI practices in all initiatives.

• Enable Responsible AI: Develop standards and guardrails for model selection, prompt/data engineering, and human-in-the-loop processes. Advise on red-teaming, adversarial testing, and monitoring to mitigate AI risks.

• Communicate Insights: Translate complex AI developments into concise briefings for executives and partners. Provide deep technical mentorship to engineering teams and mentor stakeholders on AI capabilities and limitations.

• Drive AI Strategy: Partner with AI governance and IT leadership to update AI strategy and policies. Recommend technology partnerships and stay engaged with industry forums to keep Micron at the forefront of enterprise AI.
