Full description
What success looks like in this role:
We’re looking for a senior engineer who can both build and break software. You’ll develop features across our full stack, lead quality for the team, and own the test strategy. Roughly [50%] of your time will be spent on application development and [50%] on testing and QA activities. You’ll work in Java, PHP, Jmix, JavaScript and TypeScript, use AI to work faster while keeping human judgment in the loop, and lead a small team of QA engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
Application Development
- Design, develop, and maintain full stack features using Java, PHP, and the Jmix framework on the back end, and JavaScript/TypeScript on the front end
- Build and consume REST APIs and integrate third-party services
- Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions
- Contribute to architecture and design decisions, including code structure, patterns, and technical standards
- Write clean, well-tested code with strong unit and integration test coverage
- Participate in and lead code reviews across both application and test code
- Debug and resolve production issues, and optimize application performance
- Mentor developers and QA engineers on code quality and testability
Testing & Quality Leadership
- Lead and mentor QA engineers, balancing leadership with hands-on technical work
- Architect, build, and maintain test automation frameworks for UI, API, and integration testing
- Plan, design, and run performance, load, and stress tests, then analyze results and recommend improvements
- Promote shift-left testing by working with the team on testability, early defect detection, and test coverage
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines so builds, tests, and deployments run automatically
- Set up test tooling, including mocks, stubs, and test environments
- Track quality metrics, run defect triage, and report risks and status to stakeholders
- Estimate effort and continuously improve processes in an [Agile/Scrum] environment
AI in Engineering
- Use AI tools to generate test cases and test data, draft and refactor code, review changes, and summarize failures and logs
- Define team guidelines for responsible AI use, including prompt practices, review of AI-generated code, and protection of sensitive data
- Evaluate and introduce AI-powered development and testing tools, and measure their real impact on quality and speed
