The successful candidate for this tenure-track position will support the department’s core mission of teaching our own undergraduate and graduate students and service teaching for other departments and colleges, while maintaining a productive research agenda.
The successful candidate will contribute to delivering our current programs, and teach/develop elective courses in their own areas of expertise. They will conduct research in their areas of specialization and related areas that is publishable in recognized journals, developing research collaborations along the way with other institutions of higher education or research in northeast Ohio and beyond.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. or an equivalent terminal degree in statistics or a closely related field. They must have demonstrated teaching potential and show evidence of interest in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels. They must also show potential for research productivity that can be disseminated via quality peer-reviewed journals. The candidate must have citizenship or immigration status allowing long-term, full-time academic work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
We seek scholars that will lead collaborations among faculty, students and community partners that address questions of well-being, public safety, and civic engagement. The ideal candidate will have teaching experience either during or after finishing their terminal degree, specifically with delivering courses in different modes such as in-person, hybrid, online live, and online asynchronous. They should have capability and interest in carrying forward the activities of the department’s Center for Statistical Consulting, as well as advising undergraduate and graduate research projects. Adequate computer programming skills and statistical computing knowledge for modern-day statistical needs are important. It is highly desirable that the candidate possesses collaborative research experience and evidence of potential for external funding. Ideally, the candidate’s research area should complement the department’s existing areas of expertise in time series, spatial/spatio-temporal data, functional data, bioinformatics, clinical trials, and sequential/multistage designs for statistical inference.
