Full description
Equinox is looking for an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to help build our luxury fitness clubs. You will work across the entire project lifecycle, from early design and bidding through construction, and final handoff.
This is not just an administrative role. You will work alongside our Project Managers and Director of Construction, while actively coordinating with architects, engineers, general contractors, consultants, vendors, landlords, and internal teams to help keep projects organized, on schedule, and on budget. You will handle core project controls (budgets, schedules, RFIs, and submittals) while gaining the hands-on field experience needed to transition into running your own projects.
What You’ll Do Daily
- Keep Projects on Schedule: Track design deliverables, manage active logs for RFIs and submittals, and make sure design clarifications get answered before they delay the field.
- Manage the Paperwork & Finances: Maintain project budgets, cost reports, and schedules. Track contracts, change orders, and invoices, and review monthly contractor payment applications.
- Support Preconstruction: Assist with contractor bidding, bid leveling, scope reviews, and tracking long-lead materials.
- On-Site Quality Control: Travel to active construction sites to monitor progress. You will pay close attention to our high-end finishes, including custom millwork, specialty lighting, luxury tiling, and athletic flooring.
- Drive Closeout & Handoff: Manage punch lists, equipment commissioning, and closeout packages to ensure a seamless handoff to our Operations and Facilities teams.
What We’re Looking ForMust-Haves:
- 2 to 5 years of experience in commercial construction, working for a general contractor, owner's representative, architecture firm, or engineering firm.
- Strong technical fundamentals: You can confidently read architectural/structural/MEP drawings and understand basic commercial construction sequencing.
- Proven organizational skills: You can manage multiple spreadsheets, logs, and competing priorities without letting details slip through the cracks.
- Travel flexibility: Ability to travel extensively throughout the U.S. and internationally to oversee active job sites.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience in hospitality, luxury retail, or high-end commercial interiors.
- Proficiency with industry software like Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project, along with advanced Excel skills.
