Synthesis Health Who We Are
We’re a mission and values driven company with tremendous dedication to our customers. Our 100% remote team, spread across the US and Canada, is dedicated to a common goal – to revolutionize healthcare through innovation, collaboration, and commitment to our core values and behaviors.
About the Opportunity
Synthesis Health is looking for an Associate IT & Security Engineer to join our Enterprise IT & Security Team, reporting to the Director of IT and Security. Day to day, you'll run our internal IT service desk, onboard and offboard employees and contractors, set up and support laptops through Intune, triage security alerts in Microsoft Defender and Sentinel, and gather the evidence behind our HIPAA, SOC 2, and HITRUST audits. This is an entry-level position where responsibility grows with hands-on experience, with a defined path to IT & Security Engineer, Senior, and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be the first point of contact for internal IT and security requests in our service desk queue. Resoling what you can and escalating the remainder, with documentation.
- Run onboarding and offboarding for employees and contractors: Entra ID accounts, licenses, group membership, Devolutions, SaaS access, and the records that document each step was completed.
- Provision and support Windows and macOS devices through Intune and Apple Business Manager, plus Windows 365 Cloud PCs for contractors.
- Triage alerts in Microsoft Defender XDR and Sentinel: user-reported phishing, risky sign-ins, and device compliance failures, with the Director as your escalation point.
- Collect and upload audit evidence in Vanta for our HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, and ISO programs, and help run periodic access reviews.
- Keep our knowledge base current by updating the runbook with repeat tasks.
- Help deliver projects already in flight, such as mobile app protection policies, Purview sensitivity labels, the internal service desk, and the SharePoint intranet.
- Automate the repetitive parts with PowerShell and Microsoft Graph once you understand them manually.
About the Right Candidate
The right candidate will be a malleable learner who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. They will be proactive, rather than reactive. Seeking continuous learning and evaluating business efficiencies, as you become more experienced in the role.
Qualifications
- A diploma or degree in IT, computer science, or cybersecurity, or equivalent self-directed learning.
- Working familiarity with Windows and macOS
- Networking Fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN) and identity (accounts, groups, MFA, single sign-on).
