Role Overview:

Specializing in structural systems and multi‑disciplinary coordination for complex building and infrastructure projects. Responsible for developing and managing detailed structural BIM models that support accurate analysis, documentation, and constructability for engineering teams. Contributes to maintaining BIM standards, improving modeling practices, and mentoring junior designers to ensure high‑quality structural engineering deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:Senior Model Delivery & Technical Oversight

• Lead BIM delivery on the firm's most complex, high-profile, or fast-track structural projects.
• Provide technical oversight across multiple simultaneous projects, ensuring model integrity, documentation quality, and standard compliance firm-wide.
• Resolve high-complexity modeling challenges — large assemblies, phased construction, unusual structural systems, or multi-site projects — that exceed the scope of L1/L2 staff.
• Serve as the final internal QC authority on BIM deliverables before submission to clients or governing agencies.

BIM Strategy, Standards & Governance

• Author, own, and continuously improve the firm's BIM Execution Plan (BEP) templates, modeling standards, and content libraries.
• Evaluate and implement new BIM tools, plugins, automation scripts, and platform updates; develop adoption plans and training materials for rollout.
• Establish and enforce model governance protocols across all active projects, including LOD requirements, workset structure, naming conventions, and delivery formats.
• Represent the firm's BIM capabilities and standards in conversations with clients, contractors, owners, and partner firms.

Multi-Discipline Coordination Leadership

• Direct inter-disciplinary BIM coordination on large or complex projects, managing coordination schedules, clash resolution workflows, and issue tracking across all consultants.
• Interface directly with owners, GCs, and CMs during construction-phase BIM coordination, including participation in OAC meetings as the BIM representative.
• Drive adoption of open BIM workflows required by client contracts or public agency standards.

Mentorship & Team Support

• Provide day-to-day guidance and technical support to BIM Designer Level 1 staff.
• Assist the BIM Lead in onboarding new team members to project workflows and software environments.

Process Innovation & Automation

• Lead initiatives to automate repetitive BIM tasks using Dynamo, Python, or other scripting tools, reducing production time and human error.
• Research and pilot emerging technologies (generative design, digital twin platforms, AI-assisted documentation) and make evidence-based recommendations to leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in BIM/CAD Technology, Architectural Engineering Technology, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
• 6-10+ years of BIM production and coordination experience in a structural or multi-discipline AEC consulting environment.
• Demonstrated experience authoring BIM Execution Plans and leading coordination on large-scale projects.

Technical Skills

• Expert-level proficiency in Revit, including complex family creation, workset management, phasing, and model performance optimization.
• Advanced proficiency in Navisworks for full-project coordination management.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) / BIM 360 for multi-party model management, document control, and issue tracking.
• Working knowledge of Dynamo or Python scripting for BIM automation.
• Strong command of structural engineering documentation standards and the ability to engage meaningfully with licensed engineers on design intent and detailing.
• Familiarity with IFC, open BIM exchange standards.

Soft Skills

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving project needs and technologies.
