Full description
Company Overview
CEEUS is a member-owned cooperative wholesale distributor serving the electric-utility marketplace. From operations in West Columbia, South Carolina, and Glen Allen, Virginia, we coordinate the flow of materials and equipment from manufacturers to electric cooperatives, municipal utilities, and investor-owned utilities. Our goal is not growth for its own sake. We work to become a better company by creating more value for the utilities and communities we serve.
Business Systems at CEEUS
Business Systems is broader than a traditional IT department. We increase CEEUS's capabilities and capacity by improving the coordinated system of people, process, technology, and data. The Business Data & Applications team builds and operates the enterprise application and data capabilities behind ordering, inventory, supply chain, warehouse operations, delivery, invoicing, and other critical work.
The Role
Reporting to the Director of Business Data & Applications, you will extend Infor CloudSuite Distribution and Infor OS, build fit-for-purpose web applications, and connect vendor, Microsoft, and custom systems through supported APIs and application services.
This is enterprise application development within real operational and vendor-platform constraints. The environment includes an AngularJS-based ERP extension framework, packaged applications, integrations, custom tools, application testing, upgrades, documentation, and production support. It is not exclusively greenfield product development, and the newest framework is not always the best choice. Good judgment means knowing when to configure, extend, integrate, or build.
What you will be responsible for
Design, build, test, deploy, and support browser-based business applications and ERP extensions using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and appropriate server-side technologies.
Use supported Infor extension points and vendor documentation so enhancements remain maintainable, stable, and upgradeable.
Create useful and accessible interfaces, components, validations, and workflows that reduce friction in operational work.
Consume REST APIs and build reliable integrations with appropriate authentication, validation, mappings, error handling, logging, retries, and monitoring.
Troubleshoot application defects, integration failures, performance issues, and user-reported problems; identify root causes and coordinate resolution across teams or vendors.
Support application upgrades, patches, vendor releases, technical testing, and regression testing; support user-acceptance and end-to-end process testing with business users and the accountable teams.
Use source control, peer review, testing, release, and documentation practices that make work understandable and supportable by others.
Translate business needs into practical technical designs, explain tradeoffs clearly, surface risks and mistakes early, and own what happens after deployment.
Strengthen team capability by sharing knowledge and introducing useful engineering discipline without unnecessary ceremony.
Responsible use of AI: CEEUS supports approved AI-assisted development tools. The developer remains accountable for independently validating the correctness, security, maintainability, and appropriateness of all resulting work.
You are likely to thrive here if you
Want to see and understand the actual work before deciding what to build.
Enjoy enterprise development where configuration, supported extension, integration, and custom code are all valid options.
Can work within vendor constraints and value maintainability and upgradeability over unrestricted technical freedom.
Have experienced disciplined software delivery and can apply useful practices pragmatically.
Want to own production behavior, not simply hand off code after deployment.
Surface concerns and mistakes early, invite review, share knowledge, and put the company outcome ahead of personal credit or technical preference.
Are comfortable working on-site and occasionally entering operational areas to understand how people use the systems.
This role may not be a fit if you
Want exclusively greenfield work or only the newest frameworks.
Prefer complete specifications delivered through a ticket queue with little interaction with users or operations.
Do not want to troubleshoot or support what you build.
Expect to enter a large, fully mature software-engineering organization rather than help a growing team strengthen its practices.
Prefer individual technical control over shared priorities, peer review, and knowledge transfer.
Working Conditions
Onsite position based at our distribution headquarters in West Columbia, SC
Standard office and warehouse environment.
Standard working hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday with 1 hour for lunch.
Requires availability outside of standard hours as needed to support critical issues or projects (1-2 times/month).
Requires travel as needed for industry conferences, meetings, and onsite work at our VA facility (2-3 times/year).
How we Work
At CEEUS, high performance does not excuse poor behavior. We expect Integrity at All Costs, Unwavering Humility, Insatiable Hunger, Vulnerable Team Trust, Complete and Mutual Accountability, Natural Collaboration, and 2nd Mile Service. In this role, that means doing the right thing, sharing concerns early, admitting when an assumption was wrong, owning outcomes, exchanging knowledge freely, following through, and putting collective success ahead of individual credit.
Essential Job Functions
Ability to sit or stand at a workstation for up to six hours at a time.
Must possess fine motor skills and finger dexterity necessary for precise and efficient use of a keyboard, mouse, and trackpad in performing job-related tasks for extended periods.
Ability to communicate frequently and clearly in both verbal and written formats.
Must have the ability to see and interpret detailed information, including small text and images, on screens, paper, or other materials, with or without corrective lenses.
Must be able to process complex information, evaluate multiple variables, and apply logical reasoning to solve problems and make informed decisions.
