About American Companies
At American Companies (combining American Architectural Group and American Construction Services), people come first. We are a family-owned design-build construction management firm that has been building meaningful projects across the Midwest since 1980. Guided by our core values (G.E.A.R.S.—Genuine, Entrepreneurial, Accountable, Rigorous, and Spirited), we foster a supportive, team-oriented culture where top performers thrive.
Position Overview
We are seeking a relationship-driven, growth-minded Business Development Manager to lead third-party commercial design-build sales across Wisconsin and broader Midwest markets.
In this market-facing role, you will build strategic relationships with senior decision-makers in manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, and commercial industrial sectors. You don't need deep technical engineering expertise—what matters most is your ability to prospect, build trust with executive leadership, and guide opportunities into pre-construction.
Core Responsibilities
- Sales & Pipeline Development: Identify, prospect, and secure third-party design-build, construction management, and architectural projects across target industrial sectors.
- Relationship & Network Expansion: Build lasting connections with facility directors, corporate executives, commercial real estate brokers, site selectors, civil engineers, and municipal economic development officials.
- Pre-Construction Collaboration: Qualify early-stage expansion, renovation, and new-build opportunities; partner with internal architectural and estimating teams to lead successful client presentations and proposals.
- Territory Strategy & Community Engagement: Represent the firm at industry events, commercial trade associations, and regional economic development groups to position American Companies as a trusted project partner.
- Forecasting & Pipeline Management: Maintain accurate CRM records, track projected contract values, and manage 1-year to 5-year growth strategies to reach target annual contract volumes ($25M+ target by Year 3).
What We Are Looking For
- Proven Track Record: Experience in consultative B2B sales, account development, or business development (commercial construction, real estate, or industrial exposure strongly ).
- Industrial Market Familiarity: Comfortable navigating conversations with leaders in manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, and facility operations.
