CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER
We're seeking a Chief Marketing Officer to lead Pavilion's marketing function and drive growth across new membership bookings, renewals, and new products. This person will oversee product marketing, lifecycle marketing, performance marketing, digital and web experience (brand & content), and sales enablement, including the team responsible for direct outreach and final-stage conversion.
Pavilion serves GTM professionals globally through membership, education, events, and community. Our primary commercial measure is bookings: the cash a customer pays after discounts, whether for a new membership or a renewal.
We need an experienced, tenured marketer who can set a clear strategy, make sound investment decisions, and build a team that takes ownership of results. As a member of executive leadership, the CMO will help determine business priorities and hold peers accountable for the decisions and commitments that support them. You should bring direct experience building acquisition and lifecycle programs, the judgment to challenge agency recommendations, and practical experience using AI to improve marketing team efficiency and performance. The ability to jump into execution to support a lean team as needed will be imperative.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy and Leadership with Player-Coach Mentality
- Translate business goals into marketing priorities, initiatives, metrics, and a resourcing plan. Work with executive leadership to agree which offerings and audiences take priority.
- Hold executive peers accountable for agreed goals and commitments. Make dependencies visible, challenge conflicting requests, and secure decisions when priorities exceed the team's capacity.
- Build confidence and motivation within the team through clear direction, realistic workloads, useful feedback, and recognition of results. Create an environment where a best-in-class marketing team can propose ideas and question assumptions.
- Develop team leaders across product marketing, lifecycle, performance marketing, and sales enablement. Set responsibilities and recommend hiring or agency support based on business needs.
- Establish a regular review of bookings/other performance with leadership,Finance, and RevOps. Maintain a shared definition of bookings and dashboards that distinguish cash collected from pipeline or unpaid commitments.
- Expertly weave in and out of strategic leadership and pushing things forward. Pavilion is at a stage where the player-coach mindset is critical; it’s not enough to simply know who to ideally hire, our leadership team must be able to jump in and get the job done if needed as well.
