Let's Start the Conversation

Our portfolio is growing continuously, with over 100 companies across healthcare, financial services, government, education, transportation, media, energy, manufacturing, and more. That growth creates new product and technology leadership opportunities on a regular basis.

We are always interested in connecting with exceptional product and technology leaders in vertical SaaS: leaders who hold product vision and technical delivery in equal measure, lead with AI-first conviction, and know how to make the product itself the engine of growth. If that sounds like you, we would love to get to know you now, with the future in mind.

The Opportunity

As a Chief Product and Technology Officer, you would join one of our portfolio companies directly as a core member of the leadership team, often reporting to the CEO. You will own product direction, the technology strategy, the engineering and product organizations, and the platform architecture for a vertical SaaS business that serves a specific industry with mission-critical software. Customers depend on the product daily and rarely leave. The platform has to be reliable, the data has to be an asset, and the opportunity to create competitive distance through AI and a product-led motion is real.

This is a single accountable seat for product and technology. The title and scope will depend on the company and context, but the mandate stays the same: set product direction from customer and market insight, own the technical foundation, lead the shift to AI-native product and engineering, and build an organization that scales without losing the agility to rewire when the market demands it.

Who You Are

You are energized by the full picture: the customer problem, the product, the architecture, the team, and the business impact of getting all of them right. You are close enough to the product and the code to stay personally connected, and mature enough to modernize a legacy platform without disrupting the customers and long-tenured teams who depend on it. You have built or scaled a product-led growth motion, where activation, adoption, and expansion are driven by the product experience and measured with real usage data. You use AI daily, you have already changed how your teams build and ship with it, and you see how proprietary data and deep workflow integration can create value that generic models cannot replicate. You have led a meaningful product and technology transformation, and what you remember most is the moment the business started moving differently because of it.

Must Have:

• Hands-on experience leading product-led growth (PLG) in a B2B SaaS business: owning self-serve or product-qualified funnels, in-product onboarding and activation, usage-based expansion, or freemium/trial motions, with measurable outcomes on adoption, conversion, retention, or expansion revenue.

Qualifications for Success:

• Held accountability for both product management and engineering, unifying product vision and technical execution under one leadership seat.

• Shipped AI-embedded product capabilities with measurable customer outcomes, and personally uses AI tools in daily work.

• Led a product and technology transformation (replatforming, modernization, AI integration, or product repositioning) while maintaining delivery momentum and customer trust.

• Built product analytics and experimentation into how the team works, using usage data to drive activation, conversion, and expansion decisions across the roadmap.

• Connected product and architecture decisions to revenue, retention, margin, and competitive positioning, including build vs. buy cases a CFO would accept.

• Designed or redesigned a data architecture that serves product analytics, BI, and AI as a unified asset.

• Owned a SaaS platform's security posture and compliance requirements (SOC 2, industry-specific standards), including managing a real incident.

• Built and scaled product and engineering teams, developed people into leaders, and created a culture where teams make decisions without escalating every call.

• Served as the CEO's primary product and technology partner, representing the product vision in executive, board, customer, and sales conversations.

Why a Banyan Operating Company

A permanent home. We buy, hold, and grow software companies for life. We don't resell. In a market where agentic AI is restructuring vertical SaaS right now, permanence is not permission to wait. It is the freedom to move faster: invest in bold platform modernization, AI-first product, and product-led growth, and make the decisions that PE-backed companies on a three-to-five-year clock cannot afford to make.

Autonomy with backing. Product strategy, stack choices, team structure, delivery practices, AI strategy. These are yours. We operate with a collaborative, decentralized culture where the entrepreneurial spirit of each company stays intact. We provide capital, shared services, and a network of operating partners. We do not tell you how to run your product and engineering organization.

A personal approach. Banyan operates like a family office. We care about the companies we acquire, the people who built them, and the teams who run them. You will work with people who understand vertical market software and respect what makes each business unique.

Legacy and continuity. We preserve the brand, the identity, and the culture of the companies we acquire. The employees and customers who depend on the platform are part of why we invested in the first place. You are building on a foundation that will be protected, never consolidated or stripped for parts.

A peer network. A community of portfolio company product and technology leaders navigating the same challenges: modernization, AI adoption, product-led growth, scaling teams, and building on acquired codebases. You are not solving these problems alone.

What Happens Next

This is a talent community for ongoing and future opportunities in our portfolio; it is not an active requisition. If your background aligns with what we are looking for, one of our Executive Talent Acquisition Partners will reach out to introduce themselves and start the conversation. From there, the goal is to build a relationship so that when the right opportunity opens in our portfolio, we are ready to move quickly, together.

If you see yourself in this description and are energized by the idea of owning product and technology for a vertical SaaS business with real autonomy, permanent backing, and the time to build something that lasts, we want to hear from you.
