Full description
EOA Technologies is seeking a Commercial HVAC/R Technician to support Data Center & Mission-Critical Systems. You will be responsible for:
- Performing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, startup support, and operational verification of commercial HVAC/R systems supporting data centers, critical facilities, and large commercial buildings.
- Works with chillers, air-handling systems, pumps, cooling towers, CRAC/CRAH units, controls, and associated electrical and mechanical equipment to ensure reliable, efficient, and continuous cooling operations.
- Conducts chiller pre-start inspections and startup readiness checks for mission-critical data center cooling systems.
- Verifies mechanical completion, electrical power, control wiring, refrigerant and oil conditions, chilled-water and condenser-water flow, valve positions, pump operation, strainers, sensors, safeties, interlocks, and BAS/BMS communication before equipment startup.
Key duties include:
- Perform pre-start inspections on air-cooled and water-cooled chillers prior to manufacturer or commissioning-agent startup.
- Verify chilled-water and condenser-water system readiness, including pumps, valves, strainers, expansion tanks, flow switches, pressure readings, and proper system circulation.
- Inspect compressor, evaporator, condenser, refrigerant, oil, electrical, and control components for proper installation and operating readiness.
- Confirm correct electrical service, phase rotation, voltage, amperage, grounding, disconnects, breakers, control power, and equipment connections.
- Validate safety circuits, alarms, sensors, interlocks, emergency shutdowns, freeze protection, flow proving, and equipment sequencing.
- Assist OEM technicians and commissioning teams during chiller startup, functional performance testing, and system commissioning.
- Record startup conditions, operating pressures, temperatures, superheat/subcooling where applicable, amperage, water temperatures, flow conditions, and other performance data.
- Troubleshoot commercial HVAC/R systems using electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, control diagrams, diagnostic tools, and BAS/BMS data.
- Maintain and repair centrifugal, screw, scroll, and reciprocating refrigeration systems, as applicable.
- Service AHUs, RTUs, VAV systems, fan-coil units, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, exhaust systems, and hydronic equipment.
- Support CRAC and CRAH systems used for precision environmental control within data halls and other critical spaces.
- Diagnose mechanical, refrigeration, electrical, airflow, hydronic, sensor, actuator, and control-system faults.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on HVAC equipment to maximize reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Inspect belts, bearings, motors, contactors, relays, capacitors, VFDs, actuators, dampers, valves, filters, coils, and electrical connections.
- Support BAS/BMS point-to-point verification, alarm testing, equipment sequencing, lead/lag rotation, and control-system troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with electricians, controls technicians, commissioning agents, OEM representatives, facility engineers, and construction teams during equipment installation and startup.
- Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, refrigerant-handling, confined-space, PPE, and site-specific data-center safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, startup documentation, equipment logs, deficiency lists, and commissioning reports.
- Respond to cooling-system alarms and equipment failures in mission-critical environments where HVAC reliability directly affects IT operations and facility uptime.
- Identify equipment deficiencies before startup and coordinate corrective actions to prevent equipment damage, nuisance trips, or commissioning delays.
- Maintain compliance with EPA refrigerant regulations, manufacturer specifications, mechanical codes, and company safety standards.
