Commercial Manager

Commercial ManagerWorthing | Full-time, Permanent | Competitive Salary & BenefitsTurn commercial opportunities into profitable success.

Are you the person who can turn complex numbers into winning deals? Someone who combines commercial instinct with analytical precision, knows how to protect margins, and can turn a compelling proposal into a profitable long-term partnership?

This is an opportunity to take ownership of the commercial detail behind significant new business wins, working closely with senior stakeholders to shape pricing strategies, strengthen proposals and ensure every deal makes sound commercial sense.

We're looking for a commercially minded professional who thrives where data, strategy and negotiation meet, someone who can challenge assumptions, spot opportunities and make the numbers work harder.

The opportunity

As Commercial Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting high-value business development opportunities, helping transform promising prospects into commercially robust, sustainable contracts.

You'll be the go-to person for pricing, margin modelling, tender submissions and commercial terms, ensuring every opportunity is carefully evaluated, competitively positioned and structured for success.

Working alongside senior business development colleagues and cross-functional teams, you'll bring clarity to complex opportunities, influence key decisions and help drive profitable growth.

What you'll be doing

• Shape pricing strategy: Develop commercially sound pricing structures that balance competitiveness, profitability and customer requirements.
• Own the numbers: Build detailed margin models, freight costings, forecasts and stock commitment plans to support informed commercial decisions.
• Lead tender excellence: Structure and coordinate compelling tender responses, bringing together the right information, insight and commercial thinking.
• Create persuasive proposals: Develop high-quality proposals and executive summaries that clearly communicate value and strengthen the case for winning new business.
• Protect commercial value: Review contract terms, support negotiations and ensure agreements are commercially robust before progressing to signature.
• Drive collaboration: Work closely with business development, supply chain and project colleagues to turn opportunities into successful, deliverable contracts.
• Support innovation: Contribute to customer-led initiatives, helping shape ideas from initial design through to production.
• Enable growth: Partner with the wider team to deliver forecasts, strengthen the pipeline and maximise the value of new business opportunities.

RequirementsWhat we're looking for

You'll bring a strong commercial mindset, excellent analytical skills and the confidence to influence decisions through both numbers and words.

Ideally, you'll have experience in pricing, commercial analysis or bid management within a B2B environment, alongside:

• Advanced Excel skills and a proven ability to build detailed cost and margin models.
• Experience preparing tenders, developing proposals and reviewing commercial contract terms.
• Strong numerical ability and exceptional attention to detail.
• Clear, persuasive written communication skills and the confidence to stand behind your pricing recommendations.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines.
• A collaborative approach, sound commercial judgement and the discretion to handle sensitive information.

BenefitsWhy consider this opportunity?

This is more than a pricing or bid management position. It's a chance to influence how major commercial opportunities are evaluated, presented and won.

You'll have the scope to shape decisions, work closely with senior stakeholders and make a tangible contribution to business performance, with the variety and ownership that come from being at the heart of a growing commercial function.

If you enjoy combining analytical thinking with commercial influence, take pride in getting the detail right and want to see the direct impact of your work, this could be your next move.

Ready to make your mark?

If you're commercially sharp, confident with the numbers and skilled at turning complex information into compelling business cases, we'd love to hear from you.
