At BETA Technologies, we apply our intellectual curiosity, passion for aviation, and commitment to sustainability toward a shared mission of revolutionizing electric aviation. Regardless of the position one holds, each team member brings their talent and desire to positively impact the environment and lives of others in a refreshing, vibrant, and inclusive culture.
The Configuration and Release Engineer is responsible for coordinating, releasing, and implementing engineering changes to aircraft, motor, and subsystem configurations for experimental, production, and in-service products at BETA Technologies. This role drives Change Requests (CRs), Change Orders (COs), and Change Actions (CAs) from assessment through release and closure, ensuring each change has a fully defined, resourced, and scheduled implementation plan and is correctly incorporated into the applicable configuration baselines. This activity is crucial to the process of obtaining and maintaining FAA certification to produce, supply, and operate aircraft, and to continued operational safety.
As a member of the Configuration and Lifecycle Management (CaLM) team, the Configuration and Release Engineer works cross-functionally with Design Engineering, Certification, Systems Engineering, BETA Job Description
Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Flight Test to ensure proposed changes are well coordinated, documented, and compliant with internal procedures and regulatory standards. This role maintains accurate and auditable configuration records across PLM, ERP, and as-maintained databases, so that every aircraft and motor configuration used in test, production, and service remains controlled, reviewable, and certifiable. This is a configuration management discipline role, not a design engineering or document-administration position.
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
- Process and drive Change Requests, Change Orders, and Change Actions through assessment, review, approval, release, implementation, and closure in 3DEXPERIENCE.
- Evaluate change packages for completeness; identify missing technical, manufacturing, quality, effectivity, or traceability inputs before release.
- Coordinate cross-functional impact assessments for hardware and software changes, ensuring all affected engineering and functional disciplines provide input.
- Develop and manage implementation plans that are fully defined, resourced, and scheduled to meet company and program milestones.
- Identify retrofit activity required for flight test, in-production, and in-service aircraft and motors, and track it to completion.
- Apply product (aircraft or motor) effectivity to end item units and maintain configuration baselines to ensure correct configurations for test, production, and operational use.
