Your Role
As Construction Manager, you will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of data centre construction projects across full builds, fit-outs, upgrades, landing stations and infrastructure works, from inception through handover to operations. You will be accountable for safe, high-quality, timely and cost-effective execution, while strengthening governance, digital reporting, standardisation and continuous improvement. Working collaboratively with country and market teams, Operations, customers, consultants, contractors and the wider Design, Engineering & Construction (DE&C) organisation, you will help deliver reliable and predictable capacity aligned with business priorities.
What you'll do
- Champion a strong safety culture, working closely with Health and Safety leadership to enforce safe working practices and compliance across all project activities.
- Lead projects from inception, design development and procurement through construction, closeout and handover, establishing clear goals, responsibilities, performance criteria, schedules and resource plans.
- Own construction budgets, forecasts and cost controls; track expenditure, review payment applications and invoices, manage change requests, negotiate best value and identify cost-saving or value-engineering opportunities without compromising quality or functionality.
- Manage project schedules, milestones and associated risks to provide reliable turnover dates; prepare mitigation plans, escalate impact events and report opportunities, risks and corrective actions.
- Oversee contractors, subcontractors, consultants and suppliers, including selection, negotiation, contract administration and compliance with project requirements, specifications and documentation standards.
- Implement quality-control processes, inspections and audits to ensure work meets design intent, regulatory requirements, industry standards and project specifications; resolve construction issues and deficiencies promptly.
- Establish effective governance, communication and digital reporting across senior, country and project stakeholders, including progress, financial, safety, quality, risk, change and forecast reporting.
- Act as a key point of contact for Operations and customers, manage expectations, facilitate project meetings and resolve issues or conflicts across cross-functional and matrixed teams.
- Partner with Design, Project Controls and other business functions to apply standardised designs, templates and best practices, improve buying leverage, reduce design and operating costs, and deliver capacity aligned with business strategy.
- Promote continuous improvement, teamwork and accountability, manage and motivate project teams where applicable, and support local teams when significant project risks arise.
