About Wintermute

Wintermute is a technology unicorn and one of the largest algorithmic trading companies, specialising in digital assets. We provide liquidity across most cryptocurrency exchanges and trading platforms, a broad range of OTC trading solutions as well as supporting high profile blockchain projects and traditional financial institutions moving into crypto. Wintermute also has a Wintermute Ventures arm that invests in early stage DeFi projects.
Wintermute was founded in 2017 and has successfully navigated industry cycles. Culturally, we combine the best of the two worlds: the technology standards of high-frequency trading firms in traditional markets and the innovative and entrepreneurial culture of technology startups. At Wintermute, we believe in the innovative potential of blockchain, the fundamental innovations, we have a long-term view on the digital asset market and are taking a leadership position in building an innovative and compliant market. Working at Wintermute

We are looking for an experienced developer to join the Core Development team. Joining us means working on a small, highly efficient team with a broad mandate that covers many areas of the business. The role will be ideal for someone who is pragmatic, passionate about what they do and capable of writing clean and concise code. Neither crypto nor finance experience is required; we care more about your technical skills and mindset. We also look for strong interpersonal skills as you will work closely with traders, C++ developers, middle office, quantitative researchers and the DeFi Team on various projects.
Most of our services are written in Python, but we also have high-performance infrastructure written in C++. For both Python and C++ we are usually on the most recent versions. Besides that we use Linux for all machines, PostgreSQL for databases and a few bespoke in-house solutions for problems common in high-frequency trading.

Examples of projects:

Capturing data about our own trading activities from the large number of exchanges we trade on, and exposing this to internal systems and users.

-
A reconciliation system matching trade and transfer information to produce real-time positions, alerts and reports.

-
The GUI used by traders for their day-to-day activities.

-
An automated settlement system for settling balances with counterparties who trade directly with us instead of going through exchanges.

-
A storage system used by quants for their machine learning features.

Hard skills requirements:

-
At least 2 years of Python experience. C++ experience is an advantage.

-
Experience with SQL databases.

-
Comfortable with Linux.

-
Interest in either crypto or finance. Any experience relevant to the work we do would be an advantage.

Here is why you should join our dynamic team:

-
Opportunity to work at one of the world's leading algorithmic trading firms.

-
Engaging projects offering accelerated responsibilities and ownership compared to traditional finance environments.

-
A vibrant working culture with team meals, festive celebrations, gaming events and company wide team building events.

-
A Wintermute-inspired office in central London, featuring an array of amenities such as table tennis and foosball, personalized desk configurations, a cozy team breakout area with games.

-
Great company culture: informal, non-hierarchical, ambitious, highly professional with a startup vibe, collaborative and entrepreneurial.

-
A performance-based compensation with a significant earning potential alongside standard perks like pension and private health insurance.

Note:

-
Although we are unable to accept fully remote candidates, we support significant flexibility in regards to working from home and working hours.

-
We offer UK work permits and help with relocation.
