The Coalition for the Homeless serves in a unique role as the designated independent monitor of the homeless shelter system and a party to the many legal cases establishing the rights and protections of homeless New Yorkers. In that capacity, the Coalition receives a tremendous volume of data from the City of New York daily. Additionally, the Coalition collects data through its own day-to-day operations and its twelve programs directly serving our clients.
The Data Analyst plays a central role in organizing, analyzing, and distributing data to appropriate staff and partners. This work supports a range of critical functions including internal analysis, grant reporting, and advocacy efforts that drive policy change on behalf of New Yorkers who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Responsibilities include:
· Prepare, clean, and organize data for analysis across multiple systems;
· Build and maintain reports that deliver timely, accurate information on the shelter system;
· Fulfill and track data requests from teams across the organization;
· Partner and support teams with their data requests. Anticipate these needs and plan accordingly;
· Document data processes, reports, and workflows to support consistency, quality, and institutional knowledge;
· In partnership with the Data Manager and Coalition teams, identify opportunities to improve the Coalition's systems and tools for storing, distributing, and analyzing data;
· Obtain regular supervision from the Data Manager to review assigned tasks, troubleshoot concerns and ensure that department and agency needs are met;
· Perform all other duties assigned by Data Manager or designee
