Job Title: Direct Support Professional (DSP) – A Fulfilling Second Act Career
Location: Westfield, NC Pay: $1,000 Signing Bonus! & Weekly Pay
Are you in a new phase of life—an empty nester, semi-retired, or just tired of the 9-to-5 corporate grind?
Are you searching for a "second act" career that offers real purpose, flexibility, and a way to give back to your community?
If you're ready for a new vocational focus, we invite you to join Abound Health. We are looking for compassionate, organized, and reliable individuals to become Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Why You'll Love Working with Abound Health
We’re not just another agency. We are a "Us and We" family, and we’re built differently:
- We Believe in Your Life Experience: You may be wondering if you're "qualified". If you've been a parent, an office manager, a teacher, a volunteer, or a team leader, you already have the core skills we value most. We value your life experience, and we are committed to your success.
- Paid Training: We can teach you the rest. We provide comprehensive paid training to give you all the technical skills and certifications you need for a new and fulfilling career.
- Leadership That Actually Gets It: This is not a top-down company. Our CEO and President actively work as Direct Support Professionals. We understand the challenges and triumphs of this work because we do it ourselves.
- A Real Career Path, Not Just a Job: We invest in you. Get paid training and certifications, plus access to our Abound Health Scholarship Program and clear pathways to grow.
- Flexibility That Works with Your Life: We're not a rigid 9-to-5. We offer flexible full-time and part-time schedules to fit your life.
- Reliable Benefits: We offer solid benefits, Paid Time Off, competitive weekly pay, and a $1,000 Refer-a-Friend Bonus.
A Day in the Life: What You Will Do
As a DSP, you'll partner with individuals to help them live more independent, community-focused lives. Your day might include:
- Empowerment & Mentoring: Mentoring someone on life skills, like cooking, cleaning, or managing a budget. Providing respectful, hands-on assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
- Companionship & Behavioral Support: Providing companionship and emotional support, perhaps watching a movie, engaging in conversation, or helping with an evening routine. Serving as a compassionate partner and providing positive behavioral support.
- Community & Integration: Providing transportation to a job, a doctor's appointment, or a community event like a cooking class or a swim meet. Supporting individuals with their goals, from hobbies to helping them thrive in community-based jobs.
- Health & Wellness: Supporting health and wellness by administering medications, assisting with mobility, and preparing nutritious meals.
What You Bring to the Table (Qualifications)
We believe in hiring for heart and training for skill.
What We Value (Your Life Experience): We believe you are qualified. We value the skills you've gained through your life and career:
- Patience and Empathy
- Creative Problem-Solving
- Organization and Adaptability
- Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills
- Experience as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), Personal Care Aide (PCA), Home Health Aide (HHA), or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a major plus.
What We Require (The Must-Haves):
- A compassionate, patient, and encouraging attitude
- 18 years old or older
- A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and valid auto insurance
- A High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to pass a background check
