Early Childhood Education Substitute Teacher

Early Childhood Substitute Teacher

Flexible, Part-Time & On-Call Positions Available

You became a teacher because you believe in what happens when a child feels seen, safe, and supported. You didn’t sign up for fluorescent lights and clock-watching—you signed up for the magic. The giggles. The “I did it!” moments. The tiny hand that reaches for yours on a tough morning.

At Sunshine Schools, we’re building something special—and we need dependable Substitute Teachers who can step into a classroom and help keep that magic going.

We have children ready to learn. We have classrooms that need support. We just need you.

What You’ll Actually Do Here:

Step into classrooms when regular teachers are absent and provide the consistency, care, and encouragement children need. Follow established classroom routines, support joyful hands-on learning activities, and help children feel comfortable and secure throughout their day.

You’ll assist with meals, rest time, outdoor play, classroom transitions, and age-appropriate learning experiences. You’ll keep children safe and engaged, communicate professionally with families and staff, and become the reliable team member our schools know they can count on.

What We’re Looking For:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Previous experience working with young children preferred

• NC Early Childhood Credential preferred but not required to apply

• Ability to meet all required childcare background-check and employment qualifications

• Flexibility to work in different classrooms, with different age groups, and at one or more Sunshine Schools locations

• A genuine love for children and early childhood education

• Warmth, patience, reliability, and the ability to stay calm when the regular routine changes—or someone spills paint on your shoes

What You’ll Get:

• Flexible scheduling based on your availability and our schools’ needs

• Competitive pay based on experience and credentials

• Opportunities to work with different age groups and gain valuable classroom experience

• A leadership team that listens, supports, and helps you succeed

• A workplace culture built on respect, collaboration, and doing right by children and families

• Professional development and opportunities to grow into a permanent teaching or leadership position
