The Role

As a Cardiac Sonographer in the Echocardiography Lab, you will operate at the intersection of advanced imaging technology and patient-centered care. This is a dynamic, fast-paced clinical environment where precision, collaboration, and adaptability are essential.

On a typical day, you will:

• Perform comprehensive echocardiographic studies, including transthoracic and stress imaging, producing diagnostically accurate results

• Collaborate closely with cardiologists, fellows, and interdisciplinary care teams to support clinical decision-making

• Ensure image quality optimization and protocol adherence, maintaining the highest standards of diagnostic excellence

• Interact directly with patients, providing clear communication and compassionate care during procedures

• Contribute to a lab environment that supports quality assurance, accreditation standards, and continuous improvement initiatives

• Engage in a clinical ladder program, supporting your professional growth and advancement within the field

You will encounter a wide range of cases, from routine diagnostic studies to complex cardiovascular conditions, reflective of UVA Health’s role as a tertiary referral center and a Level 1 trauma center serving patients across the region.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Graduate of accredited program in appropriate area of specialty as required by position.

Experience: No experience required, 2-5 years preferred.

Licensure: American Heart Associate (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required; additional requirements specified by position. RCS or RDCS obtained within 12 months of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: (computer keyboard). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to cold, dust, noise, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

The pay range for this role is $36.13 - $61.15 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's previous work and years of experience. There is opportunity to advance within our clinical ladder and earn merit increases to increase hourly rate. Aggressive sign on bonus and relocation support for applicants that qualify.
