Job Summary:
The Electrical Hardware Technician will support the development and validation of automotive Battery Management Systems (BMS). Working in a laboratory environment, this role will be a key part of the hardware development cycle by building, testing, troubleshooting, and updating printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs). The technician will operate electronic test and measurement equipment and provide hands-on support to engineers as they design, validate, troubleshoot, and iterate BMS hardware for automotive applications.
Responsibilities:
- Build, rework, and repair PCBAs, including surface-mount and through-hole soldering of components down to fine-pitch parts.
- Assemble, wire, and maintain lab test benches and fixtures used for BMS hardware validation.
- Support functional testing and characterization of BMS boards and subsystems using electronic test and measurement equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, function generators, and battery cyclers; capture and document test results.
- Use Controller Area Network (CAN) tools and interfaces to communicate with, monitor, and debug BMS hardware during bring-up and testing.
- Diagnose hardware faults at the board and component level and support root-cause investigations with hardware engineers.
- Update and reconfigure PCBAs to implement engineering change orders (ECOs) and design revisions.
- Maintain accurate records of builds, modifications, test procedures, and equipment calibration status.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and compliant laboratory environment, following Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), electrical safety, and battery-handling practices.
- Support engineers with prototype assembly, cable harness fabrication, and general laboratory tasks as needed.
- Adhere to federal and state regulations.
- Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in electronics, electrical hardware, laboratory testing, or a related technical field required.
- Practical experience operating electronic test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads required.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience soldering and reworking Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), including Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and through-hole work; IPC-A-610 /J-STD-001 familiarity is preferred.
- Hands-on experience using Controller Area Network (CAN) tools and interfaces for hardware communication, monitoring, or debugging.
