Electrical Test Engineer (f/m/d)

🌍 Build the Future of Climate Tech with PhlairWe're solving humanity's biggest challenge, and it takes everything we've got.

The world needs more energy, not less. Fossil fuels powered our economy for decades, at the cost of our planet. At Phlair, we're inverting that equation with breakthrough electrochemical Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology that pulls CO₂ from the air for permanent storage or repurposing into carbon-negative chemicals.

We're not here to play it safe. We're here to win.

Why We’re Different?

We solve hard problems and are product-first. Our hydrolyzer-based Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology, enabling scalable and low-cost CO2 capture from ambient air. The electrochemical technology allows off-the-shelf components and is ideally suited to the intermittent nature of renewable energy sources.

With proven offtake agreements from customers such as Google, McKinsey, JPMorganChase, Shopify, Stripe, H&M, and Deep Sky; we're one of only seven DAC companies with real market validation.

Project Dawn isn't just our flagship; it's our shot to scale CO₂ removal globally.

Is this a fit for me?We're building for the 3-5% who are energized by winning and thrive under pressure. Our pace demands people who see excellence as non-negotiable and execution as everything. We cherish work-life-harmony, not balance. If you need extensive structure or prefer playing it safe, we're probably not the right fit.

Don't tick every box? We value potential and spikes over perfect resumes. If you believe you can contribute to our mission at this intensity level, tell us why.

Your Mission

• Test Plan Development: Collaborate with our CSO Steffen to design and execute tests for evaluating the functionality and compliance of our electrochemical stack for our 260 tCO2/year DAC demonstrator.

• Collaborate: Work with the team to develop internal and external test setups.

• Infrastructure Setup & Maintenance: Set up and maintain the test infrastructure, with a focus on quality assurance and reliability. Electrical wiring qualifications are a plus.

• Data Analysis: Analyze test data and communicate key results to the development team.

• Adapt & Innovate: In the fast-paced startup world, your ability to adapt to an evolving environment and quickly pivot will be crucial. You’ll work autonomously, learn on the go, and contribute to shaping a new sector.

Your targets are your North Star. Nothing is set in stone in our world, we adapt fast, but we always hit our goals.

What You Bring

• Education: M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering.

• Testing Experience: Experience designing and conducting test protocols.

• Electrochemical Testing: Familiarity with cell stack testing - fuel cells, electrolysers, flow batteries, electrodialysers or similar.

• Data Skills: Strong in data analysis and presenting results clearly.

Essential Traits

• Methodical & Detail-Oriented - You work carefully and focus on the details

• Troubleshooter - You identify issues and maintain test stands

• Bias for action - You prototype, test, and ship while others are still planning

• Comfortable with intensity - 12-hour days and weekend sprints don't scare you, they energize you

• Ego second - You care more about winning than being right

• Figure things out independently - No hand-holding. You own problems end-to-end

• Excellence as standard - Mistakes happen, but mediocrity doesn't

Bonus Points

• Test Automation: Basic scripting knowledge (LabVIEW, Matlab, Python, R-Studio).

• Electronics Qualification: Formal qualification in electronics for high-voltage DC/AC

How We WorkIn-person matters: We work fully onsite in Ismaning, Germany. Our pilot plant is here, our breakthroughs happen here, and our team wins here—together.
