Full description
Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.
Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.
Micron's US Construction Engineering team delivers the facility infrastructure that enables semiconductor manufacturing. We collaborate across engineering, construction, facilities, and third party vendors to develop safe, reliable, and maintainable high-tech facilities. Our team offers the opportunity to fix engineering problems while helping bring large-scale construction projects from conception through commissioning and operation.
As a Fire Alarm / Life Safety Systems Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for life-safety systems across construction projects. You will independently evaluate developments, resolve integration and field issues, and support systems from beginning of construction through turnover. This role combines technical engineering, field experience, multi-functional collaboration, and digital tools to help deliver safe, code-compliant, construction-ready systems.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical guidance of consultants, contractors, and vendors crafting fire alarm, fire detection, emergency communication, and related life-safety systems
- Examine drawings, specifications, riser and wiring diagrams, device layouts, calculations, sequences of operation, cause-and-effect documentation, submittals, RFIs, redlines, and record drawings
- Evaluate builds for code compliance, constructability, maintainability, operability, system capacity, and integration with sprinkler, HVAC, smoke control, elevators, access control, suppression, process equipment, and facility-control systems
- Coordinate and resolve technical issues with construction teams, vendors, Facilities Operations, EHS/fire protection, engineering fields, and authorities having jurisdiction
- Support installation, functional and acceptance testing, commissioning, fixing issues, impairment planning, phased cutovers, system recovery, and turnover while tracking technical risks.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 4 years of applicable engineering experience, including a minimum of 2 years involving fire alarm, fire detection, or life-safety systems
- Knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 70/NEC, NFPA 101, IFC, IBC, and applicable local fire and building codes and experience translating requirements into practical engineering solutions
- Experience with the review or development of fire alarm plans, operation sequences, cause-and-effect documentation, engineering submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs
- Experience evaluating battery calculations, power-supply loading, notification-appliance voltage drop, system loading and capacity, access control, and suppression systems
