Engineer Sr Lead, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning

Every day at FIS, innovators, problem solvers and changemakers work together to create technology that advances the world of finance. We embrace new ideas, challenge what's possible and empower our teams to make a lasting impact. If you're ready to help shape the future of fintech, unlock your next chapter with FIS.About the role

As an Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Engineer, you will design and build generative artificial intelligence and agent-based solutions used across the organization. You will develop applications powered by large language models, create automated workflows, connect artificial intelligence systems with enterprise platforms, and evaluate solutions for accuracy, reliability and safety.

Your key responsibilities

• Design and build generative artificial intelligence applications using open and proprietary large language models.
• Develop agent-based systems that use planning, memory, tools and orchestration to complete complex tasks.
• Create multi-agent, human-in-the-loop and autonomous workflows.
• Integrate artificial intelligence solutions with enterprise platforms, application programming interfaces and business workflows.
• Evaluate and improve model and system performance, including accuracy, grounding, reliability and safety.

What you bring

Required qualifications

• At least four years working with artificial intelligence, generative artificial intelligence or agent-based systems.
• Hands-on experience with large language models, prompting techniques, structured outputs, model routing, context management and memory management.
• Strong Python skills and experience with machine learning frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras or Pandas.
• Experience with retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, hybrid retrieval patterns and the evaluation of generative artificial intelligence systems.
• Experience building and deploying RESTful services with Flask or FastAPI and working with AWS, Google Cloud Platform or Microsoft Azure.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with large language model fine-tuning or parameter-efficient tuning methods such as LoRA or QLoRA.
• Familiarity with orchestration frameworks and tools such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen, OpenAI Assistants API or Model Context Protocol.
• Experience with production machine learning operations, monitoring, observability, security, compliance or data governance for generative artificial intelligence systems.

The impact youll make

The Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Engineer will join a team of solution architects, data scientists and machine learning engineers focused on identifying and delivering valuable artificial intelligence solutions. Your work will help teams across FIS use emerging technology responsibly, improve business processes and create new opportunities through scalable generative artificial intelligence and agent-based systems.
