Description
Skyworks is seeking Sr Director of Engineering (Firmware & Systems) to lead its wireless engineering team feeding into multiple business units (Connected Edge Solutions BU, Audio & Gaming BU). These BUs are focused on creating products that require reliable and resilient wireless communications and ultra-low latency lossless audio transport. While the role entails managing a team across geographies, there is need to wear a technical architect role driving this product architecture and design at firmware, hardware and systems level. The ideal individual should have prior experience in system architecture, inter-processor communication techniques, device drivers and deep knowledge of wireless MAC and PHY protocols in ISM band. Knowledge of IEEE802.11 family of standards (PHY and up) and Cellular/5G (Access Stratum) is a big plus.
Responsibilities
- Drive the system architecture and design for the wireless platform
- Lead the software/firmware design and development across US and India locations
- Work closely with senior leadership to plan new product introductions into market
- Innovate new communications methods on top of unlicensed (ISM) bands
- Drive system wide improvement from FEMs to Upper layer software
Required Experience and Skills
- BS EE required, MSEE preferred
- 20+ years of experience building, developing, and leading high-performing software/firmware teams in wireless technology
- Strong hands-on experience with MAC protocols (IEEE802.11, BT, Cellular) is necessary
- Strong hands-on experience with Networking protocols is necessary
- Experience with hardware bring-up and validation and on-chip debug
- Leading team through development on RISC-V and DSP environment
Desired Experience and Skills
- Working knowledge of peripherals (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, USB, PCIE) and other BSP drivers (e.g., Secure boot, GPIOs, Debug)
- Baseband PHY algorithms and optimizations
- Conceptual understanding of data converters and RF signal chains
- Knowledge of mesh and star network protocols
