Engineering Director

At UVeye, we're on a mission to redefine vehicle safety and reliability on a global scale. Founded in 2016, we pioneered the world's first fully automated suite of AI-powered vehicle inspection systems, combining computer vision, machine learning, and generative AI.

With over $380M in funding and strategic partnerships with Toyota, Amazon, General Motors, JLR, Volvo, and Hertz, our technology is deployed across manufacturing plants, dealerships, wholesale auctions, fleets, and seaports worldwide. Named one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies of 2026, our 300+ global employees are solutions-oriented, accountable, and driven by one shared goal: making roads safer for everyone.

We are looking for an Engineering Director to join our engineering leadership team, reporting directly to the VP of Engineering.

In this leadership role, you will own & manage a multi-disciplinary Engineering group spanning AIgo, full-stack, AIOps, QA, and data - accountable for delivery, people, and business outcomes. You will work closely with a Principal Product Manager who sets direction, and directly manage a Product Owner embedded in your team.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

• Own your Engineering group delivery end-to-end - planning, prioritization, dependencies, risks, and outcomes.
• Drive accountability: commitments are kept, blockers surfaced early, quality is non-negotiable.
• Directly manage all engineers and the Product Owner in your squad, supported by functional guilds.
• Run 1:1s, give meaningful feedback, support growth, and build a high-accountability team culture.
• Provide technical guidance in close partnership with Principal Architects and senior engineers.
• Stay engaged enough to earn trust, spot risk early, and make informed trade-off calls.
• Connect your squad's work to UVeye's business outcomes. Always ask why it matters before deciding what to build.
• Participate actively in leadership discussions on roadmap, resourcing, and strategy.

Requirements

• 7+ years of engineering experience, at least 4 of them in a managerial role, including managing managers.
• Proven track record leading multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-moving, product-led environment.
• Strong foundations across distributed systems, data pipelines, APIs, and production software.
• B.Sc. in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or equivalent.

Who You Are

• A true people leader - you have managed engineers directly and care deeply about their growth.
• Multi-disciplinary by nature - credible across disciplines without needing to be an expert in all.
• Technically curious - you follow the craft, earn engineer respect, and stay sharp.
