Ophelia Tavern & Bar Top are now open at The Dale in Avondale Estates, and we’re looking for friendly, dependable, and organized Hosts to help make every guest feel welcome.

Ophelia Tavern is a refined neighborhood gathering place serving Italian-inspired comfort food in a welcoming, no-fuss atmosphere. Our menu features pizzas crisped in 600-degree ovens, pastas tossed in scratch-made sauces, thoughtfully prepared entrées, sandwiches, salads, and small plates made for sharing. Inviting indoor and patio seating complement handcrafted cocktails, a whiskey-forward bar program, and a well-rounded selection of beer and wine.

Located upstairs, Bar Top is a 21-and-over rooftop bar featuring a spacious covered patio overlooking the Town Green at The Dale, along with a cozy indoor bar, fireplace, and private event space.

As a Host, you help set the tone for the entire guest experience. From the first greeting to the final goodbye, your warmth, communication, and attention to detail help guests feel cared for and keep service organized. We’re looking for people who enjoy connecting with others, remain composed during busy periods, and take pride in supporting their team.

What We’re Looking For

• A friendly, welcoming, and hospitality-focused personality
• Previous hosting or guest service experience is a must!
• Experience in a high-volume restaurant is a plus
• Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills
• Confidence greeting guests and answering questions in person and over the phone
• Ability to manage a waitlist and communicate wait estimates clearly
• Attention to detail when recording reservations and guest requests
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and courteous during busy service
• Dependability, punctuality, and a professional appearance
• A team-first mentality and willingness to support fellow team members
• Comfort using tablets and learning reservation and waitlist technology
• Toast Tables experience is a plus
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events

Position Responsibilities

• Greet arriving guests promptly with a warm, friendly welcome
• Manage reservations and the waitlist using Toast Tables and company procedures
• Confirm party sizes, guest information, and seating preferences accurately
• Provide realistic wait estimates and communicate updates to waiting guests
• Follow the established seating rotation and seek manager direction before making adjustments
• Monitor table availability and communicate with servers, server assistants, and managers
