About us

We're solving AI's hardest problem: alignment.

Encord is the data layer for Physical AI and enterprise, serving as core infrastructure for 300+ of the world's leading AI teams, including Woven by Toyota, Hitachi, Skydio, AbbVie and Dyna, Walden and Agility Robotics. From autonomous vehicles and robotics to sports and healthcare, we're solving AI's hardest problem: turning complex, real-world data into production-ready intelligent systems.

We're a team of founders, scientists, quants, researchers, and former Olympians, who’ve helped build some of the most successful companies in Silicon Valley, and alumni of MIT, Stanford, UC Berkeley, Oxford, Cambridge, and Imperial. We’ve raised $110M from legendary technology investors, early backers of companies like Databricks, ElevenLabs and Vercel, and we’re growing at an extraordinary pace.

We're looking for exceptional people who want to help build a category-defining company, operating with high urgency and taking real ownership to help shape the future of AI.

The role

As Finance Associate at Encord, you'll own the operational core of our finance function, including: supplier payments, customer invoicing, and month-end reconciliations - ensuring everything runs accurately and on time. You'll partner closely with the wider finance function and cross-functional teams across the business, helping make finance a great partner to the rest of the company. The day-to-day processes are yours to run and improve: where something is manual or unclear, you'll have the real opportunity to make it better. It's a strong fit for someone early in their finance career who takes ownership seriously and wants their work to underpin the teams building tools for multimodal AI.

What you'll do

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts payable, VAT returns and accounts receivable.

• Process employee expense reports and ensure adherence to company policies.

• Oversee client invoicing and manage billing workflows.

• Assist with month-end close procedures, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

• Support financial reporting, budgeting, and variance analysis.

• Collaborate on ad-hoc finance and operational projects as they arise.

Who we're looking for

• Precision in the core. You take pride in managing the transactional heart of the company. You aren't just processing invoices or reconciling accounts; you view accuracy in bookkeeping and compliance as the critical foundation that allows us to move fast and make informed decisions.

• A builder of systems. You don’t just accept manual processes as status quo. Whether it’s improving expense workflows or refining billing, you look for the "better way" to do things, ensuring our financial systems scale as quickly as our business.

• Collaborative by nature. You recognize that effective finance isn’t a back-office function—it’s a partner to the business. You’re ready to bridge the gap between financial operations and the cross-functional teams building the tools for multimodal AI.

• Ready for high-growth ownership. You are early in your finance career, but you crave responsibility. You want a role where your daily output directly supports our growth, and you’re hungry for the professional development that comes from operating in a fast-paced environment.

Experience requirements

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field.

• 1-2 years of experience in a finance, accounting, or analytical role (tech or startup experience is a plus, but not required).

• Solid foundational knowledge of bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, and invoicing.

• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.

• Proficiency in spreadsheet software and financial tools. An understanding of AI-native finance stacks would be advantageous

• Proactive mindset with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, growing environment.

Why Encord

• Competitive salary, commission, and meaningful equity in a high-growth startup

• Clear, accelerated growth opportunities as the company scales rapidly

• Strong in-person culture: 4 days/week

• Daily team lunches & dinners

• Annual learning & development budget

• Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage

• US employees: 18 paid vacation days plus US public holidays

• UK employees: 25 paid vacation days plus UK public holidays

• Frequent travel opportunities across the U.S., London, and Europe

• Bi-annual company offsites & monthly socials
