Founding Full-Stack Engineer

About us:

Sunset helps tech startups shut down. We’re the 1-stop shop for dissolutions, helping founders with all legal, accounting, and operational aspects that go into winding down.

Since coming out of stealth, we’ve helped dozens of vc-backed startups shut down, generated hundreds of thousands in revenue, and have raised $1.5M from some of the world’s best entrepreneurs (Ryan Hoover, Hiten Shah, Sahil Lavingia, Codie Sanchez, Justin Mares, Lenny Rachitsky, Charles Hudson, Roger Lee, Eric Bahn, and many more).

We are looking for a Full-Stack Engineer to join our founding team to help further automate the dissolution process. We want to bring somebody on board who is passionate about the startup ecosystem and enjoys working in a variety of different disciplines (LegalTech, FinTech, Automations, etc.).

About you:

• You have 5+ years of experience working as a full-stack engineer.
• You love shipping good products.
• You have excellent command of at least one of the mainstream programming languages.
• You are comfortable working in an early-stage startup with ambiguity and less direction
• You know how to ship high-quality code using good testing practices in iterative cycles.
• You collaborate well with others and can communicate effectively in a remote culture.
• You are proactive. When you see something broken, you jump on it to fix it or suggest improvements.
• You move fast, test, and iterate quickly.

In the first month, you'll:

• Meet frequently with Grant our CTO and Brendan our CEO
• Setup and familiarize yourself with repositories, task management, and our dev environment
• Implement and ship your first project
• Familiarize yourself with the dissolution workflows and business concepts

Within the first 3 months, you'll:

• Be able to scope and work on projects self-sufficiently
• Review code, create proposals, and contribute to architectural discussions
• Have shipped a major product or feature
• Participate in code reviews, and contribute in other ways (testing, visibility, etc.) to improve the reliability and quality of the codebase
• Understand and improve many of the codebases that the team works with

Within the first 6 months, you'll:

• Contribute to the team roadmap and technical direction
• Know all the major components of our system and be able to debug complex issues
• Be able to spec and architect medium-large projects, gather feedback, and design validation and rollout plans
• Mentor other engineers joining the team
• Influence the org to improve general reliability, scalability, and performance

What we offer:

• $175,000 - $200,000 USD salary regardless of your location.
• Competitive, Founding Engineer equity in a fast-growing, seed-stage startup
• 10-year window to exercise vested equity options.
• Suggested 4 weeks off to recharge and focus on mental, physical, and emotional health.
• Health, Dental, and Vision coverage
