Frontend Engineer Intern — Remote Data Dashboard Builder

We are looking for a Frontend Engineer Intern to support our technical work for a Rome-based international investment group. This role focuses on building the interfaces that allow our team and clients to visualize complex financial assessments and economic models.

**About Blue Oak Consulting
**Blue Oak Consulting provides independent advisory on pricing, portfolio economics, capital allocation, and acquisition assumptions. We are not a traditional consulting firm focused on broad transformation programs or high level strategy decks. Instead, we interrogate specific commercial decisions where the financial stakes are high and the existing narrative is not sufficient. Our team looks past corporate language and P&L complexity to identify where value is leaking or capital is trapped. We work across sectors like software, manufacturing, and healthcare to test whether the assumptions behind a growth plan or an acquisition actually hold under pressure. We are a small, principal led firm where the people who do the work are the ones accountable for the results. We do not take transaction contingent fees, which allows us to be completely honest about whether the economics of a decision make sense. Our goal is to provide clarity through financial discipline and a healthy amount of skepticism. We stay through the execution phase because decisions that look sound in theory often fail when they meet real world friction.

**The Role
**As a Frontend Engineer Intern, you will work in a technical capacity to support our advisory team. This is a fully remote position where you will contribute to the development of web-based tools used to present data to an international investment group based in Rome. You will work alongside senior developers to create clear, functional, and accurate front-end components. The work involves taking numerical data and translating it into a format that a user can easily interact with. Since we are a small firm, your contributions to the codebase will be visible and used in real client engagements.

What You Will Be Doing

• Building and maintaining reusable user interface components using JavaScript and modern frameworks.
• Converting financial charts and tables into interactive web dashboards for client reviews.
• Working with the advisory team to understand the specific data points that need visual emphasis in a report.
• Ensuring that all web interfaces are responsive and work correctly across different devices and browsers.
• Collaborating with back-end teammates to connect user interfaces with financial data sources.
• Writing unit tests and performing manual testing to ensure numerical accuracy on the frontend.
• Documenting code changes and maintaining clean version control practices.
• Assisting in the deployment of internal tools used for capital allocation analysis.
• Updating existing web pages to reflect new pricing models or acquisition assumptions.

What You Bring

• Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a degree program in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS fundamentals through coursework or personal projects.
• Basic knowledge of a frontend library such as React, Vue, or Angular.
• Strong interest in how software can be used to solve complex financial problems and display data.
• High accuracy when working with numbers and complex layouts.
• Effective communication skills to discuss technical problems with non-technical team members.
• A logical approach to troubleshooting and fixing bugs in front-end code.
• Ability to manage your own time effectively in a fully remote work setting.
• Curiosity about how businesses make high-stakes commercial decisions.

What We Offer

• Fully remote work, allowing you to contribute from any location without a commute.
• A paid internship with a compensation level that is competitive for the position and market.
• Direct exposure to the technical requirements of high-level financial advisory work.
• Mentorship from senior developers who prioritize clean code and efficient logic.
• Experience working on a project for a large Rome-based international investment group.
• An environment that values skepticism and logical thinking over corporate posturing.
• Access to the tools and training necessary to grow your technical skills.

At Blue Oak Consulting, we believe that the best software serves a clear purpose. By joining us, you will see how technical work directly supports the interrogation of financial assumptions. Our firm is built on the idea that clarity is more valuable than complex narratives, and your work will help us deliver that clarity to our clients. You will be part of a team that stays involved through the execution of a project, ensuring that the tools we build solve real-world problems.
