Full description
Across Commodities and Global Markets, data is fundamental to how we trade, price, manage risk and make decisions. It flows through market feeds, cloud platforms and specialist systems, each serving different needs across the business. But having sophisticated data platforms is only part of the equation. When decisions are time-sensitive and carry significant financial and operational consequences, understanding what data is available, what it means, where it came from, how reliable and current it is, and who is entitled to use it becomes just as important. As the scale and complexity of our data estate grow, we want to make it easier for people and applications to find, understand and use the right data with confidence, without the complexity of the underlying systems standing in the way.
We already use established solutions to manage and govern our data, but we believe there is an opportunity to go further. We're building our own Data Control Plane from the ground up, designed around the needs of our business and the platforms that support it. Rather than replacing the systems that store and process data, it will provide a more consistent way to discover, understand and securely access information across our data estate. Starting with catalogue, metadata, lineage and discovery, we're laying the foundations for more connected, transparent and effective governance, making it easier to put data to work without compromising control. As AI-enabled applications and agents become increasingly important, that foundation will be critical to enabling them to discover and interact with data in a secure, reliable and governed way.
Building this platform brings together sophisticated application development and the challenges of engineering at scale. From intuitive interfaces that make complex data easy to explore, to high-performance APIs and services that connect securely across distributed systems, every layer needs to be designed for reliability, scalability and long-term evolution.
We are a global financial services group operating in 30 markets with 57 years of unbroken profitability. At Macquarie, you're empowered to shape a career that is fulfilling and creates value. You will bring your insights and expertise to the task at hand and feel supported as you make your own kind of impact for a better future.
What role will you play?
As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you'll help shape and build the Data Control Plane from the ground up. You'll work across the product, from the experiences people interact with to the services and cloud infrastructure behind them. Using React and TypeScript, Python and AWS, you'll build capabilities that make complex data easier to discover, understand and use.
On the frontend, you'll create intuitive experiences for exploring and interacting with data. You'll develop features including catalogue browsing, search, data-rich grids, visualisations and workflow-driven functionality, working with reusable components, design systems and complex application state. As the product grows, you'll also tackle the performance and usability challenges that come with increasingly rich applications and larger volumes of data.
