About the role
Soniq Digital Media Pty Ltd is looking for a Full-Stack Software Developer to help build Cybercast, our digital signage platform. Most of your work will be in our Go microservices on AWS. You'll also work on our built-in AI assistant and our MCP server, and on our React-based CMS front-end. You'll use AI coding tools every day, and we hold the code they help produce to a high bar: contract-first APIs, tests against real dependencies, and automated checks on every change.
What you'll be doing
As a Full-Stack Software Developer, you will be responsible for:
- Build and maintain backend services in Go, inside a monorepo with clear boundaries between services
- Design APIs contract-first with OpenAPI, generate server and client code from the spec, and evolve APIs without breaking clients
- Work with PostgreSQL: schema design, and safe expand/contract migrations
- Build event-driven flows with Kafka and Protobuf
- Build AI features in our assistant (TypeScript/Bun): LLM integration, tool calling, agent workflows and web search
- Extend our MCP server so AI clients can safely use the Cybercast API
- Write and maintain AI evals and guardrails so AI features behave reliably in production
- Contribute to the React CMS front-end when features span the stack
- Deploy on AWS (EKS/ECS, S3, SQS, IoT, EventBridge) through CI/CD and GitOps
- Use AI coding assistants (e.g. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) as part of your daily workflow, and own the code they help you write
- Write integration tests against real dependencies, keep observability (OpenTelemetry) in place, and record design decisions as ADRs
Required Skills & Experience
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- 2+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong backend experience in Go (or strong backend experience in another language and a willingness to get productive in Go quickly)
- Solid SQL / PostgreSQL experience, including migrations on live systems
- Experience designing REST APIs, ideally contract-first with OpenAPI
- Working knowledge of TypeScript
- Hands-on experience integrating at least one LLM API (e.g. OpenAI, Claude/Bedrock, Gemini) into a real application
