Full Stack Software Engineer

About the Company

There are 17 million Americans who own rental property. Most don't want to be landlords anymore, but selling isn’t a good option. Why? You’d lose income and appreciation, trigger tax liabilities, kick out your tenants, have to fix up the house – the list goes on! Flock is here to help.

Flock’s mission is to provide every retiring landlord with the most cost-efficient and seamless exit. Our first product is a tech-enabled 721 Exchange for residential landlords. Owners contribute properties into our professionally managed Fund, in exchange for passive equity ownership. It's a direct 721 Exchange model designed for everyday owners who want access to continued cashflows, liquidity, and diversification without triggering capital gains, disturbing tenants, or dealing with disposition friction. We’re growing fast and are looking for smart, entrepreneurial hustlers who want to help build something category-defining.

We’re backed by top tier investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, Primary Ventures, Renegade Partners, SUSA Ventures, 1Sharpe Ventures, and leaders from Invitation Homes and Opendoor.

About the Role

Flock is hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our small, high-impact product team. We’re building a 10x version of Flock from the ground up, redefining how mom-and-pops invest in real estate.

This is a generalist role by design, with autonomy over what you build. You'll work across the entire stack and customer journey – frontend, backend, data, infra, and AI – picking up whatever a project needs rather than owning a single layer. Most of our work is growth engineering: driving quality leads and building the tools, automations, and AI-powered products that compound our funnel. You'll ship fast, measure everything, and make choices based on data (not roadmaps handed down from above).

What You’ll Do:

• Build across the stack: Work wherever the highest-impact problems are, using TypeScript, React, Node.js, GraphQL/Apollo, AWS, and Salesforce.

• Own features end-to-end: Take features from MVP to production, working directly with Design and Ops to iterate and move fast.

• Make Flock Homes an AI-powered company: Build AI infrastructure, agents, and internal tools that enable teams across the business to make better decisions.

• Shape the roadmap: Influence major product and engineering decisions. This is a small team where your input materially changes what gets built.

• 10x the people around you: Work directly with Acquisitions, Operations, Asset Management, and other teams to eliminate bottlenecks and give them tools that scale what they can accomplish.

• Raise the engineering bar: Shape the technical foundations, processes, and engineering culture that will support Flock Homes as we grow.

About You:

• Strong Engineering Fundamentals: You have 2–5 years of experience shipping production software and can independently own projects from concept to launch.

• Eager to Grow: You seek out challenges, embrace feedback, and constantly push yourself to learn, improve, and take on more responsibility.

• AI-forward: You use AI to multiply your productivity, experiment with new tools, and move faster without compromising sound engineering judgment.

• Collaborative: You default to an iterative approach to problem solving and work well with Product, Design, and non-technical teams across Sales, Ops, and Asset Management.

• Bias to Action: You thrive in ambiguity, make decisions with imperfect information, and would rather ship, learn, and iterate than wait for a perfect spec.

• Clear Communication: You can explain complex technical ideas to anyone, collaborate effectively with non-engineers, and use data to make decisions and measure impact.

• Organized: Able to balance multiple projects and prioritize competing tasks.

• Ethical: Conduct business with the highest level of integrity and professionalism, taking responsibility for your decisions and understanding that trust is fundamental to our business.

We're building a team of people who genuinely enjoy working hard together to solve difficult problems. We value our in-office culture, where collaboration happens naturally, ideas get shared spontaneously, and everyone is willing to jump in and help. We eat lunch together every day, giving us time to connect beyond our projects.

Even if you don’t meet 100% of the qualifications, we recommend applying to the role!

Note: This is a full-time, in-person role.

The target annual salary for this role is $156-204k OTE, plus equity and benefits (medical/dental/vision insurance, 401k, and unlimited PTO).
