Job Description:
The Role and Impact
As a GPU Software Development Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and developing software solutions that enable Intel's GPUs, ranging from firmware and device drivers to APIs and application layers. You will work on cutting-edge kernel-level features that drive functionality, power management, and performance optimization for integrated and discrete graphics products. Your contributions will directly shape immersive visual experiences for millions of users, ensuring Intel's leadership in graphics technologies.
Business Group
We are the Windows Kernel Mode Driver Team within Intel's Client Graphics IP group of DCG. Our primary objective is the development and deployment of robust and performant Windows kernel GPU drivers. These drivers are instrumental in unleashing the full potential of Intel's integrated and discrete GPU hardware for user-space clients, games, and applications.
Our focus lies in managing critical low-level functions, including device activation, reset and power state transitions, workload submission, power conservation, and scheduling, as well as collaboration with System-on-Chip (SOC) Intellectual Properties (IPs). With this charter, we conceive, create, and verify software solutions that serve as the link between user-space applications and the underlying GPU and SOC. If you thrive in an environment that involves working on system-level software, with regular exposure to diverse domains such as graphics rendering, firmware, SOC, and power management, then a role on our Kernel Mode Driver Team is where you should be.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, validate, and optimize GPU kernel-mode drivers for Windows operating systems.
- Collaborate on implementing low-level features, including device activation, power management, and workload scheduling for integrated and discrete GPUs.
- Design and debug firmware and software features related to GPU hardware and accompanying System-on-Chip (SOC) components.
- Analyze telemetry and resolve complex issues across layers of driver stacks, domains, and IP integration.
- Contribute to the creation of test frameworks, workload automation, and validation methodologies to ensure high-quality code delivery.
Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field.
- 3+ years of relevant industry experience, in two or more of the experience below:
-
- Python for automation/data analysis and C/C++ for firmware and software development.
- Developing kernel-mode device drivers for Windows OS, including knowledge of WDDM and kernel-level programming.
