Description
We are seeking an experienced IBM Db2 Database and Platform Expert to assess, optimize, and evolve the IBM Db2 implementation supporting a TruckMate transportation management system environment. The consultant will identify and remediate performance, operational, and infrastructure risks while assisting with the migration of a large customer's live production Db2 database from Windows to Linux.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in IBM Db2 LUW, Windows Server, Linux administration, SQL tuning, and enterprise-scale database migrations. This individual will work closely with internal teams and IBM support organizations to improve database performance, ensure operational stability, establish best practices, and support business-critical systems throughout the migration lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
Assessing current-state Db2 architecture, configuration, security, performance, and operational processes.
Analyzing workloads, SQL execution plans, indexing strategies, schema design, locking behaviors, deadlocks, tablespaces, buffer pools, memory settings, capacity, and logging configurations.
Reviewing customer-developed SQL and optimizing or redesigning database interactions where appropriate.
Tuning Db2 for high-volume transactional workloads supporting dispatch, order management, rating, billing, settlements, operational reporting, and system integrations.
Diagnosing performance degradation, storage constraints, backup failures, replication issues, and production outages.
Optimizing Windows Server infrastructure including CPU, memory, storage, paging, security settings, antivirus exclusions, and networking.
Developing health check automation, configuration validation, backup verification, and monitoring standards through PowerShell or comparable tools.
Leading readiness assessments for Windows-to-Linux migration efforts and contributing to migration planning, testing, cutover, rollback, validation, and stabilization activities.
Working directly with IBM support and engineering teams to resolve complex production issues.
Designing and tuning Linux environments supporting Db2 workloads.
Establishing performance benchmarks and validating system performance before and after migration.
Producing assessments, migration runbooks, risk analyses, operational documentation, and knowledge transfer materials.
