Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on Java Backend Engineer who can work directly with business users and product owners to understand their requirements, identify underlying problems and deliver practical technical solutions.
This is not a purely development-focused role. The successful candidate must be able to manage stakeholder expectations, communicate technical matters clearly and take ownership of requirements and issues without depending entirely on a Business Analyst or Team Lead.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance and support Java/Spring Boot backend applications and REST APIs.
- Engage directly with business users and product owners to understand requirements, concerns and operational challenges.
- Translate business requirements into clear technical solutions and implementation plans.
- Facilitate discussions, clarify ambiguities and manage stakeholder expectations throughout delivery.
- Investigate application and data issues using complex SQL queries, logs and system analysis.
- Perform troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, defect resolution and production support.
- Support SIT, UAT, deployments and post-release stabilisation.
- Collaborate with architects, project managers, QA, application support and other technology teams.
- Communicate delivery progress, risks, dependencies and technical constraints clearly.
- Maintain technical documentation and support knowledge transfer.
