About the role
We operate multiple businesses, including pharmacy and senior-living operations, and are building an internal AI and automation capability.
We are looking for one highly hands-on engineer and problem solver who can work directly with ownership and employees to identify inefficient processes, repair existing automation, build better systems, integrate software and deploy practical AI throughout the organization.
This is not a strategy-only AI position and not a prompt-engineering position. You should be someone who can observe a broken business process in the morning, understand the systems and data behind it, troubleshoot logs and APIs, build or improve the solution, test it, deploy it and then teach employees how to use it.
One of your first priorities will be evaluating and improving existing third-party bots and automations used in our pharmacy operations. You will become our internal technical owner: understanding what vendors have built, diagnosing problems, determining what should be fixed versus replaced, and making sure our company owns and understands its technology.
What you will do
- Spend significant time with employees observing real workflows and identifying repetitive work, data-entry problems, bottlenecks, errors and opportunities for automation.
- Audit, troubleshoot and improve existing bots and vendor-built automations, including workflows currently supported by outside vendors.
- Build production AI and automation solutions using software, APIs, workflow platforms, databases and appropriate AI models.
- Integrate business and healthcare systems through APIs, webhooks, database connections, secure file exchange and, where necessary, RPA/UI automation.
- Automate document and data-processing workflows involving PDFs, forms, structured files and other operational information.
- Build AI-assisted workflows with appropriate validation, evaluation, exception handling and human review.
- Create reliable systems with logging, monitoring, retries, alerts and clear failure states.
- Work with regulated healthcare information and follow company HIPAA/security policies.
- Maintain all source code, workflows and documentation in company-controlled repositories and systems.
- Quantify the impact of projects: labor hours eliminated, cycle time, error rates, automation success rate and employee adoption.
- Train employees to use AI safely and productively in their own work.
- Create reusable AI tools and standards so improvements spread across our pharmacy, senior-living and other businesses.
- Manage technical vendors and hold them accountable for documentation, access, reliability and deliverables.
- Work directly with ownership to turn ideas into operating systems rather than presentations.
