Location: Remote (US)
Experience: 8+ years
Candidate Location: Costa Rica (this is a MUST)
Contract Term
- This is a 100% fully remote independent contract opportunity to work for a large US-based client.
- Candidates must be located in Costa Rica.
- Long-term contract with no specified termination period.
- Working hours must overlap with United States business hours, and the role includes an on-call rotation and occasional coordinated after-hours releases.
About the Role
A Lead Software Engineer on the Core Platform team guides the delivery of shared capabilities that product teams across the client's technology organization rely on. The platform portfolio includes enterprise identity and access management, communication services, user activity and audit trails, API routing, client SDKs, and developer tooling. Identity and access management is an important part of the role, but the engineer must be able to work across the broader platform ecosystem.
The role combines architecture, implementation, production operations, and team-level technical leadership. It suits someone comfortable moving from a system-design discussion to code, incident troubleshooting, delivery planning, or cross-team coordination. This is a hands-on position, not a people-management one, although work decomposition and day-to-day technical direction for a team of about four engineers are essential.
What You'll Do
- Day-to-day technical direction and hands-on engineering for Core Platform services, including identity and access management, communication services, and the User Activity Trail.
- Secure access patterns for end users, services, and third-party integrations.
- Integrations with enterprise identity-provider platforms, including federation, multifactor authentication, application configuration, and user-lifecycle migrations.
