The Samtel-HAL JV already enjoys the unique distinction of being the first public-private partnership in defence avionics space in India to indigenously design, qualify and serial produce multifunction displays which are currently flying on Su-30 MKI.

About role:

Samtel is seeking an experienced Satellite System Engineer (10–12 years experience) to lead end‑to‑end system design and integration for its CubeSat and space programs. The role involves defining mission requirements, translating them into system architecture, and ensuring seamless coordination across payload, propulsion, ADCS, power, and communication subsystems. The ideal candidate will drive technical trade-offs, lead design reviews, manage system budgets (mass, power, data, ΔV), and ensure mission feasibility and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end satellite system design and architecture development for CubeSat and small satellite missions.
• Translate mission objectives into system-level requirements, ensuring alignment across all subsystems (payload, power, ADCS, propulsion, communication, and thermal).
• Own and manage system budgets including mass, power, data rate, link budget, and ΔV.
• Perform system trade-off studies to optimize performance, cost, and risk for mission success.
• Drive system integration and interface definition across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Lead and coordinate design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and ensure technical readiness at each stage.
• Develop and maintain system engineering documentation, including requirements, ICDs, and verification plans.
• Ensure mission feasibility and performance validation through simulations, analysis, and testing.
• Work closely with payload and RF teams to define communication architecture, link budget, and coverage strategy.
• Support launch vehicle integration, mission planning, and on-orbit operations strategy.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring reliability and compliance with space standards.
• Collaborate with program management to support schedule, cost, and milestone tracking.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering strong systems engineering practices within the team.

Desirable Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with mission analysis, orbit design, and simulation tools (STK, GMAT, MATLAB/Python).
• Solid understanding of CubeSat subsystems – ADCS, Power, Thermal, Propulsion, and RF communication systems.
• Hands-on experience in system integration, testing, and verification (AIT/AIV) for space systems.
• Knowledge of RF systems, link budget analysis, and IoT payload design (LoRa, SDR, LPWAN).
• Familiarity with space standards and best practices (ECSS, NASA standards, IN‑SPACe/ISRO guidelines).
• Strong skills in multidisciplinary coordination, technical leadership, and stakeholder management.

Why apply:

If you are looking for a role that combines technical ability and research thinking capacity within a cutting-edge, growing Global tech business, then this could be the role for you. If you meet the requirements above, then we’d love to hear from you.
