Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist

Speech-Language Pathologist

Full-Time | The Covington | Aliso Viejo, CaliforniaWhat if your SLP practice could help people keep their voice, their independence, and their place in the life they've built?

That's what we're building at Prava.

We're looking for a full-time Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team at The Covington, a nonprofit Life Plan community in Aliso Viejo serving older adults across a continuum of living and care.

The Covington is not simply a place where people receive care.

It's a community designed around choice, freedom, flexibility, creativity, and connection—with opportunities for fitness, lifelong learning, dining, arts, social engagement, and an active lifestyle. When residents' needs change, The Covington's continuum allows them to access additional support without leaving the community they call home.

That's exactly where we believe speech therapy belongs.

In the middle of life.

This is not just about speech.

It's about connection.

A resident who can't find the right word.

A person whose cognition is beginning to affect everyday independence.

Someone who is struggling with swallowing and doesn't want meals to become something they fear.

A spouse who needs to learn a new way to communicate.

A resident who wants to keep participating in conversations, classes, meals, activities, and the community around them.

Those aren't simply clinical problems.

They're pieces of someone's life.

And your job is to help protect them.

Your role

As a Prava SLP, you'll provide skilled speech-language pathology services throughout the community while becoming a trusted clinical resource for residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team.

You'll:

• Complete comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized plans of care

• Provide skilled treatment for communication, cognition, swallowing, and related functional needs within your scope of practice

• Help residents maintain independence and meaningful participation

• Develop practical strategies that transfer into everyday life

• Provide education to residents, families, caregivers, and community team members

• Collaborate with nursing, care teams, wellness professionals, families, and other rehabilitation clinicians

• Identify changes in communication, cognition, or swallowing that may warrant intervention

• Support safe and meaningful dining experiences

• Incorporate real-world activities and environments into treatment

• Communicate clinical recommendations clearly and compassionately

• Document efficiently using Prava's modern technology and AI-enabled tools

• Contribute to a culture of clinical excellence, curiosity, and continuous improvement

Think beyond the diagnosis.

At The Covington, residents are encouraged to keep learning, moving, creating, socializing, and pursuing the interests that make their lives meaningful. Creative Living includes opportunities ranging from fitness and swimming to art, education, gardening, cultural activities, and social experiences.

Your therapy should connect to that life.

Maybe the goal is participating in a class.

Maybe it's being understood at dinner.

Maybe it's safely enjoying a favorite meal.

Maybe it's remembering the steps to independently manage a familiar routine.

Maybe it's helping a spouse understand how to communicate with a loved one whose cognition is changing.

Maybe it's simply helping someone remain part of the conversation. That's functional speech therapy.

And this is where you get to use your brain.

The Covington offers a continuum of support that includes Independent Living, Assisted Living, specialized Memory Care, and Care Suites, where PT, OT, and speech therapy are part of the services available.

You'll encounter residents with different diagnoses, different goals, different levels of independence, and different reasons for wanting therapy.

There won't be a single template.

You'll need to assess.

Think.

Adapt.

Educate.

Problem-solve.

And sometimes ask a better question than:

“What impairment are we treating?”

Ask:

“What is this person trying to keep doing?”

That's where the good stuff happens.

We're looking for an SLP who:

• Holds a current California Speech-Language Pathologist license

• Holds or meets applicable ASHA certification requirements

• Has strong clinical skills in adult communication and/or swallowing

• Is comfortable working with older adults and changing cognitive needs

• Thinks functionally and understands the importance of meaningful outcomes

• Builds relationships naturally with residents and families

• Communicates complex clinical information in a way people can actually understand

• Is creative, curious, and clinically confident

• Works well independently and collaboratively

• Believes dignity and autonomy are part of clinical care

• Wants to keep growing as a clinician

Experience in senior living, dementia care, or adult neurogenic communication disorders is a plus.

But we're much more interested in how you think than in whether you've followed the same career path as everyone else.

Why Prava?

Because we're building a different way to practice rehabilitation in senior living.

You bring the clinical expertise.

We bring the operating system.

Technology built for clinicians

Prava combines EMR, clinical workflows, and AI-enabled documentation to reduce administrative friction and give clinicians more time with residents.

Clinical infrastructure

You'll have access to clinical standards, resources, mentorship, and a growing community of rehabilitation professionals.

Operational support

Prava supports the infrastructure behind the practice—so your energy can stay focused on clinical care and the community.

An embedded model

You're not a therapist who drives in, treats, and drives away.

You become part of The Covington.

You'll know residents.

You'll know families.

You'll know the community team.

You'll understand what is happening in people's lives—not just what's written on a referral.

A chance to build something

As Prava grows, so can your role.

Mentorship.

Clinical leadership.

Program development.

Community partnerships.

You don't have to leave patient care behind to grow your career.

We believe great SLPs protect something bigger than communication.

They protect connection.

They help people remain understood.

They help families communicate.

They help residents maintain choice.

They help people participate.

They help preserve dignity when abilities change.

And sometimes, they help someone keep doing something they thought they were going to lose.

That's meaningful work.
