Full description
Some of the most legendary engines in the world run on parts only a skilled machinist can make.
Since 1833, Cooper Machinery Services has built and serviced equipment that keeps power, pipelines, and ships moving. As a Machinist IV in our Deer Park Service Shop, you'll work from blueprints to produce precision one-off parts and restore turbocharger components, using both CNC and manual machines. No two jobs look the same, and every part you finish goes back into the field. If you're a seasoned machinist who wants to put your craft to work on iconic equipment, we want to meet you.
What You Will Do
- Machine parts to spec on CNC and manual equipment, including lathes, mills, and drills, and independently set up and run your assigned machines
- Repair and restore parts to support the turbocharger service business
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, job cards, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, quantities, and machining requirements
- Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using software such as GibbsCAM and Mastercam
- Monitor feeds and speeds, adjust offsets (wear, geometry, cutter compensation), and troubleshoot machine, tooling, and programming issues to minimize downtime
- Inspect finished parts against prints and routing instructions, and complete the required documentation
- Apply the required surface finishes, then deburr and stamp parts to specification
- Align and secure fixtures, cutting tools, jaws, and materials on the machine
- Follow all PPE and safety rules, and keep your work area clean and organized
- Perform other duties as assigned
