We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Modernization Engineer to support the transformation of legacy mainframe applications into modern Java-based, cloud-native solutions. The role involves application discovery, business rule extraction, code modernization, cloud migration, testing, and production cutover activities. The successful candidate will work closely with architects, SMEs, business stakeholders, and modernization teams to ensure successful migration while preserving business functionality

Responsibilities

Mainframe Assessment & Discovery

Analyze legacy COBOL, CICS, JCL, VSAM, and DB2 applications.

Perform application inventory, dependency mapping, and impact analysis.

Extract and document business rules embedded in legacy systems.

Support reverse engineering and application discovery activities.

Modernization & Transformation

Participate in COBOL-to-Java modernization initiatives.

Support refactoring, re-platforming, and cloud migration activities.

Transform batch workloads, online transactions, and integration components.

Assist in API enablement and microservices development.

Cloud Migration

Support migration of applications to AWS/Azure cloud platforms.

Assist with containerization, CI/CD implementation, and DevOps automation.

Participate in cloud architecture reviews and modernization roadmaps.
