Manager - Master Data

Manager, Master Data

Remote, United States | Full-Time | Finance

Great business decisions start with data you can trust.

Do you see patterns where others see problems? Are you the person who questions inconsistent data, traces issues to their source, and builds solutions that prevent them from happening again?

At ProAmpac, we're looking for a Manager, Master Data who can turn complex data challenges into reliable, scalable solutions that support our growing business.

As a global leader in flexible packaging, ProAmpac is continually evolving through innovation, technology, and strategic growth. That evolution requires accurate, consistent, and well-governed data.

Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Master Data Management, you'll play a critical role in strengthening the foundation behind our operations, financial reporting, analytics, and business decisions.

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

Data quality isn't just an IT priority. It impacts nearly every business decision.

In this role, you'll help ensure that our customer, vendor, material/product, and financial master data is accurate, consistent, and ready to support the business.

You'll have the opportunity to:

• Build trust in the data. Establish standards, governance, and quality measures that create reliable information across the enterprise.

• Turn insights into improvements. Use SQL, data profiling, KPIs, and dashboards to identify issues, analyze root causes, and measure progress.

• Support business transformation. Play a key role in data harmonization, ERP implementations, system migrations, and acquisition integrations.

• Drive smarter processes. Partner with IT and business stakeholders to strengthen automation, validations, and approval workflows.

• Elevate data governance. Mentor data stewards, influence data owners, and help mature our enterprise approach to managing critical data.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Manage the full lifecycle of assigned master data domains, from record creation and enrichment through maintenance and retirement.

• Develop and maintain enterprise data standards, business rules, naming conventions, and definitions in partnership with business data owners.

• Establish and monitor data quality KPIs covering accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness.

• Use analytical tools and dashboards to identify data quality trends, investigate discrepancies, and lead sustainable corrective actions.

• Lead data cleansing, deduplication, harmonization, and migration initiatives across ERP and other enterprise systems.

• Collaborate with IT to improve MDM platforms, validation controls, automation, and approval workflows.

• Maintain data dictionaries, business glossaries, and data lineage documentation.

• Support data-related internal controls, audit readiness, and applicable compliance requirements, including SOX and GDPR.

• Mentor junior data stewards, educate business partners, and promote accountability for enterprise data quality.

• Contribute to the data governance council, prioritize improvements, and deliver project initiatives using agile practices.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

• 8+ years of experience in master data management, data stewardship, data quality, or data governance.

• Hands-on experience with ERP systems and master data structures, such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, AS400, SyteLine, or HP3000.

• Experience with MDM or data governance platforms, such as SAP MDG, Informatica MDM, Stibo STEP, Reltio, Profisee, Collibra, dataZen, or Ataccama.

• Strong SQL and Excel capabilities, with experience in data profiling, analysis, reconciliation, and validation.

• Practical knowledge of data governance frameworks, controls, and performance metrics.

• Experience planning and executing projects or sprints using agile methodologies.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence without direct authority.

• Demonstrated, hands-on use of AI-enabled tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, or similar technologies to improve analysis, documentation, and productivity.

HELPFUL, BUT NOT REQUIRED

• Experience leading enterprise data migrations, conversions, or ERP implementations.

• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence and visualization tools.

• Knowledge of Python, ETL tools, or data automation techniques.

• CDMP certification or familiarity with DAMA-DMBOK.

• Experience supporting manufacturing, packaging, or other complex operational environments.

THE KIND OF PERSON WHO WILL THRIVE HERE

You are analytical, curious, and naturally drawn to solving complex problems. You appreciate accuracy and structure but understand that great data governance requires more than technical expertise.

You can connect the details to the bigger picture, translate complex data concepts into practical business solutions, and work across functions to move initiatives forward.

Most importantly, you don't just identify what's wrong with the data. You take ownership of making it better.
