About the Engineering team
The Engineering team builds systems that power Affirm’s mission. We take pride in our craft, building reliable, performant, and scalable solutions that touch every part of the business. Whether we’re enabling new ways to pay, ensuring our platforms can scale to the most demanding levels in the industry, or developing seamless servicing experiences, our focus is on solving complex problems through exceptional engineering.
About the role
As Engineering Manager for the Marketing & Privacy Engineering (MPE) team, you’ll lead two engineering pillars - Marketing and Consumer Privacy Engineering - under a shared mission to build trusted, privacy-aware consumer web experiences and measurement systems that enable sustainable growth.
What you’ll do
-
Lead, develop, and support engineers across the Marketing and Consumer Privacy pillars, creating an environment where they can do their best work, grow their craft, and take on greater responsibility.
-
Establish and continuously improve a shared operating model for MPE that unites Marketing and Privacy around a common mission while creating clarity around each pillar’s priorities, technical ownership, decision-making, and ways of working.
-
Partner closely with the Product Manager and technical lead for each pillar to translate product and business priorities into clear engineering plans and deliver against their respective roadmaps while maintaining alignment to MPE’s shared mission.
-
Guide engineering strategy and execution across Logged-Out Web, web experimentation, marketing integrations, attribution and measurement, consent, privacy experiences, and consumer data collection.
-
Build strong partnerships across Engineering, Product, Marketing, Privacy, Legal, and adjacent engineering teams, establishing clear ownership and reliable ways of working across shared systems such as client-side and server-side tagging and measurement infrastructure.
-
Enable privacy-aware engineering by ensuring consent, cookies, tagging, and consumer data collection are considered as part of solution design and by creating alignment where growth, measurement, and consumer privacy intersect.
-
Hold the team accountable for delivering reliable, scalable solutions while balancing engineering quality, customer needs, business priorities, speed, and appropriate risk.
