Job Description:
Dimensional was built around a set of ideas bigger than the firm itself. With a confidence in markets, deep connections to the academic community, and a focus on implementation, we go where the science leads, and continue to pursue new insights, both large and small, that can benefit our clients.
The Technology Department at Dimensional leverages the rapidly evolving state of the art to engineer the platforms that power the innovative, research-driven financial and technical products to improve our client’s financial lives.
The Manager of Software Engineering will lead the engineering team responsible for our client asset reporting platform and broader Sales Technology application ecosystem. This role requires strong expertise in C#/.NET development, data engineering, systems integration, and AI-assisted software development. In this role, you will oversee the design, development, delivery, modernization, and ongoing support of business-critical platforms serving the Global Client Group, Finance, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
This is a highly visible technical leadership role accountable for engineering quality, platform reliability, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will foster a culture of ownership and accountability, guide technical decisions, develop engineering talent, and use measurable outcomes and data-informed decision making to evaluate performance, prioritize investments, and deliver meaningful business value.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Hire, coach, develop, and hold engineers accountable. Build technical capabilities and a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
- Set technical engineering direction – Establish the long-term direction for the team’s technology, architecture, engineering practices, and capabilities, including AI-assisted engineering, while remaining sufficiently hands-on to understand the codebase, contribute when needed, and effectively guide technical decisions.
- Prioritize and deliver – Use data and measurable outcomes to inform prioritization of work, evaluate tradeoffs, improve team performance, and ensure engineering effort is focused on the highest-value priorities.
- Own operational health – Use operational data and engineering metrics to understand system health, identified opportunities for improvement, and ensure applications and services are reliable, supportable, and effectively operated.
- Own engineering risk and security – Ensure vulnerabilities, technical debt, lifecycle risks, controls, and other engineering risks are understood, prioritized, and addressed.
- Communicate and align – Provide senior leadership and stakeholders with clear, data-informed visibility into priorities, delivery, performance, risks, tradeoffs, and decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing software engineering teams, including coaching, performance management, and building technical capability.
