Manufacturing Technician

Are you an experienced Assembly or Manufacturing Technician looking for a role where you can develop specialist skills and work with innovative technology?

At Advanced Electric Machines (AEM), you'll play a key role in building next-generation rare earth-free electric motors that are helping to shape the future of sustainable transport.

About the Role...

Reporting to the Team Leader, you’ll play a key role in assembling our innovative magnet-free electric motors for both serial and pre-serial production.

As a Manufacturing Technician, you’ll work alongside a manufacturing team, contributing to shared goals and production targets.

This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in precision, enjoys hands-on work, and wants to be part of a forward-thinking company committed to sustainability.

Why join AEM?

As a growing small business, we want people to join our flexible and enthusiastic team, where you will be encouraged to learn all elements of our manufacturing operation.

Unlike larger automotive manufacturing environments where roles are often focused on a single assembly stage, this position provides the opportunity to develop expertise across the full motor build process, supporting production, prototype development and design changes, giving you a unique insight into the technology behind our products and a genuinely varied role.

About us...

Founded in 2016 as a spin-out from Newcastle University, AEM has worked with industry partners, vehicle manufacturers (globally) in sustainable powertrain technologies.

Our products are helping vehicle manufacturers across industries transition to cleaner, more efficient electric solutions. We’re proud to say our technology keeps more rare earth materials and copper in the ground—where they belong!

At AEM, we’re ambitious, fast-moving, and driven by purpose. If you’re looking for a workplace that values innovation, teamwork, and environmental impact, you’ll fit right in.

What will you do...

• Build and test advanced electric motors and associated systems for both production and prototype applications, working from engineering drawings and detailed build documentation.
