Full description
Build the engines that power the world
Some of the most iconic engines and compressors ever built are still running today, and they run because skilled hands keep them going. At Cooper Machinery Services, you’ll work on legendary equipment like Cooper-Bessemer™, Ajax™, and Superior™, backed by a heritage that dates to 1833 and serves more than 22,000 units worldwide.
As a Mechanic II, you’ll take on real, hands-on work with limited supervision. You’ll tear down, inspect, rebuild, and test the equipment that keeps oil & gas, power generation, transportation, and marine operations moving. You’ll also grow your skills and help bring up the next generation of mechanics. If you take pride in precision and want a career with a company that treats its people as its strength, this is your next move.
What You Will Do
- Work safely every day: follow all EHS policies, keep your work area clean and organized, and set the example for newer teammates.
- Independently disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble moderate-complexity engine and compressor components.
- Use manual, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools to fit, adjust, and secure components correctly.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly prints, and work orders without assistance.
- Measure with precision instruments (micrometers, dial calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges) and check dimensions against engineering tolerances to make pass/fail calls.
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical issues and recommend corrective actions to supervision.
- Support major maintenance and overhaul activities as part of a team under senior direction.
- Set up and support test cell operations following engineering specifications.
- Review the scope of work before starting any operation or moving any material.
- Complete work orders and inspection records accurately and on time, and guide Mechanic I team members on tasks and procedures.
