Mechanical Engineer (Mid-Sr)

At Stoke, we believe a thriving space economy will enable a vibrant, sustainable, and equitable future here on Earth. That is why we’re building Nova, our fully and rapidly reusable launch vehicle. Designed for daily flight, Nova tackles the core challenges of space transportation by reducing cost, increasing availability, and improving reliability. By radically lowering launch costs and increasing flight cadence, we’re helping create a truly scalable space industry.

Our team is mission-driven, collaborative, and empowered to take ownership of their work. If you want to work alongside some of the most dedicated and talented people on Earth, we’d love to have you join us.

Description

We're looking for Mechanical Engineers with rock-solid fundamentals and a bias for action. You'll own hardware from blank sheet through flight—designing, analyzing, building, testing, and integrating critical rocket systems including vehicle primary structures, fluids and avionics component packaging, and secondary structures. This is a high-ownership, hands-on role where you'll tackle new problems daily, work across disciplines, and be expected to figure out solutions on the fly. If you thrive on hard problems, moving fast, and seeing your hardware perform, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical and structural hardware from concept through flight operations

• Design and analyze structural components, fluids and avionics component packaging, and vehicle integration hardware

• Perform structural and thermal analysis using hand calculations and FEA—choosing the right tool for the problem at hand

• Write margin summaries; may involve developing loads or load cases

• Create CAD models and manufacturing drawings with proper GD&T

• Work directly with machinists, welders, and technicians to build and test your hardware

• Procure parts, manage suppliers, and keep your hardware on schedule and on budget

• Troubleshoot failures, disposition non-conformances, and drive root cause corrective action

• Test and improve your hardware —vibration, thermal, structural, pressure

• Lead design reviews and communicate technical decisions clearly

• Continuously improve designs to reduce cost, increase reliability, and improve manufacturability

• Failure analysis of components as it relates to thermal, loads, vibration, and shock

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field

• 2+ years of hands-on engineering experience designing, building, and testing hardware
