Applications Close: 13/11/2026

With more than 150 years of history in Aotearoa New Zealand, SBS Bank is proud to help Kiwis find a place to call home. Our purpose drives us every day: supporting our members, their whānau and the communities we serve.

We're on an exciting transformation journey, investing in new capabilities to deliver a more modern, secure banking experience for today and the future.

To help us with this, we are searching for a Mobile Apps Engineer to join our team

You'll bring strong native development experience across Android and iOS, working across both platforms to build secure, intuitive and scalable mobile experiences using the Engine SDK suite.

From getting customers onboarded to making payments, managing cards, accessing lending and viewing financial insights, the work you do will directly contribute to how our customers experience SBS digitally.

What you'll get stuck into:

• Designing, building and improving native Android and iOS applications.
• Turning business and customer needs into smart, practical mobile solutions.
• Integrating and optimising Engine SDKs across key digital banking journeys.
• Working across the full development lifecycle, from requirements and design through to testing, launch and ongoing support.
• Collaborating with people across technology and the wider business to solve problems and continually improve the mobile experience.
• Applying strong object-oriented development practices to create maintainable, scalable solutions.

What you'll bring to the team:

• Strong native mobile development experience, Android and iOS, with the ability to develop and support solutions on both platforms.
• Experience with SDK integration and mobile development pipelines.
• A good understanding of UX/UI and mobile security best practice.
• Experience working across the software development lifecycle.
• Solid object-oriented development skills.
• A collaborative mindset and the ability to communicate technical ideas clearly.
• Nice to have: Experience in banking, financial services or another regulated industry would be a bonus, but it's not essential.

This role is full time position based in Invercargill, New Zealand.

To support growth, we're looking for passionate, curious people who want to make an impact and help shape the future of banking in New Zealand.

At SBS, we foster an inclusive, innovative culture where people are encouraged to challenge conventions, share ideas and bring their whole selves to work.
