Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) with 5–10 years of systems engineering experience to support the development, integration, and lifecycle management of complex defense systems.
The successful candidate will apply MBSE, digital engineering, and disciplined systems engineering processes to translate mission and operational needs into system requirements, architectures, interfaces, technical baselines, and verification strategies.
This position will work closely with the Chief Systems Engineer, program leadership, government customers, subsystem engineering teams, software/hardware teams, cybersecurity, integration, test, and specialty engineering organizations throughout the system lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and manage system architecture models using SysML and MBSE methodologies.
- Develop operational, functional, logical, and physical architectures for complex defense systems.
- Translate capability needs, mission objectives, operational concepts, and stakeholder requirements into well-defined system requirements.
- Perform requirements decomposition, derivation, allocation, traceability, and verification planning.
- Maintain bidirectional traceability between mission needs, requirements, architecture elements, interfaces, design elements, and verification evidence.
- Perform functional analysis and allocate system functions to hardware, software, operators, facilities, and external systems.
- Define, document, and manage internal and external interfaces.
- Support development and maintenance of Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and interface requirements.
- Support system requirements specifications, architecture descriptions, technical analysis documentation, verification plans, and other program systems engineering products.
- Conduct and document trade studies, technical analyses, risk assessments, and architecture evaluations to support engineering decisions.
- Support development and execution of verification and validation (V&V) strategies, including verification methods, success criteria, and requirements-to-test traceability.
- Support establishment and maintenance of functional, allocated, and product baselines.
- Ensure consistency between the authoritative system model, requirements database, interface documentation, design artifacts, and verification evidence.
