Job Description
We are looking for an Onsite Infrastructure Support Engineer to provide technical support for enterprise servers, storage, and backup systems. The role involves onsite troubleshooting, hardware maintenance, and working closely with remote Level 3 (L3) engineers to ensure infrastructure availability and stability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide onsite technical support for servers, storage, and backup infrastructure across data centres and offices in Johor.
- Act as remote hands & eyes for L3 engineers, assisting with hardware replacements, system reboots, cabling, and physical troubleshooting.
- Perform basic Linux, server, and storage troubleshooting, escalating complex issues to L3 support.
- Coordinate with hardware vendors for repairs, replacements, and maintenance activities.
- Conduct routine infrastructure health checks, physical inspections, and status reporting.
- Assist with OS patching, firmware upgrades, and system maintenance under L3 guidance.
- Maintain accurate hardware inventory, incident records, maintenance logs, and change documentation.
- Follow established incident, change, and asset management processes.
- Collaborate with internal technical teams, vendors, and service providers to maintain infrastructure reliability.
Job Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure, preferably in a data centre environment.
- Good working knowledge of Linux operating systems, enterprise servers, and storage technologies.
- Basic understanding of hardware troubleshooting, RAID, SAN/NAS storage, and networking.
- Experience with server hardware installation, replacement, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes, incident management, and change management.
- Good communication, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Willing to provide onsite support and participate in standby or after-hours support when required.
Added Advantages:
- Hands-on experience with Supermicro (SMC), Dell PowerEdge servers, and WEKA storage solutions.
- Knowledge of enterprise storage, backup, and high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure.
- Experience supporting data centre infrastructure and coordinating with remote engineering teams.
- Relevant Linux, Dell, or other infrastructure certifications.
Preferred Candidate:
A hands-on infrastructure engineer with strong Linux, server, and storage fundamentals who can independently handle onsite technical activities while coordinating effectively with remote L3 engineers and vendors.
This JD positions the role as an L1/L2 Onsite Infrastructure Support Engineer, rather than an L3 specialist. This is suitable for GC360's managed services delivery model, where complex troubleshooting and advanced configuration remain with the remote L3 team.
